| I usedto spend a bit of time in San Diego a few years back, but although I wasn't diving one of my mates out there did. There is quite a lot of diving to be had, the best of which (apparently) is out on Catalina Island.....and if I recall correctly the water is pretty cold so you may wat to think dry. The best bet for info is to go onto Scubaboard and ask, they will put you in touch with a few locals Conor

| There's a good shore dive on Catalina Island, just in front of the casino. It drops of deeply to around 30m and has huge giant kelp fronds with loads of little orange garibaldi fish. When we were there, some years ago now, the dive shop just near where the ferry landed used to hire trolleys to move your kit as well as tanks and weightbelts. |

| hi, I dived in that area last August. The water was similar to ours with temps 9-16C. Vis varied from 1 to 10M though I was told that the vis is usually better. I did Monterey and San Diego, there is lots of wildlife and I was accompanied by Sea lions and Harbour seals on two dives. I thought the best dive was at Monterey Bay. The Dive centre is next to the beach, you walk out into the sea past the Sea Otters enjoying themselves and out through the kelp forest. Marvelous!, I could have spent days there trying to spot all the different creatures and play with the Sea lions. I got some super pix of Spanish dancers. I found all the dive centres googling and through the PADI site. Have fun!

| One of our US YD ers from California dived with us on a Mull gig a while back, (Tony) if I recall correctly. I don't remember the name he posted under, but I'm sure if you PM'd him he would be able to give you some pointers as to the worth while sites. Anybody else remember his log on ie he joined us on one of the first Mull Gigs???
