| Spent a night there 5 years ago and had a great time. Found a Scottish pub, a real change from the Irish pub norm! Perth is bloody miles from anywhere but then so is everywhere else in Oz I suppose. I hear the diving is really good and there is an ex Navy ship sunk in the area as an artificial reef. I'd love to check it out sometime! Jim

| A friend of mine lived there for a couple of years. He loved the city but thought the diving was rather boring.

Riverclass Frigate Destroyer Escort 113 long Built 1967 and then sunk 1997 it rests at 32M fairly upright. All the insides have been more or less stripped out, mind you they've left the loos in. Quite funny you dive down to the back of the stern then work your way up the back end stick your head in a hole and see a line of loos! Permanent shot line going down to the crows nest in the centre. Anyway there are lots of holes been cut and doors taken off so its fairly light all the way through and you can dodge in and out all the way through it or just go for a swim through the whole length. The engine and the boiler room have been closed off but there is so much to see and explore inside that it takes several dives. Last dive swimming inside towards the bow just about to duck into the last room and there is this huge samson fish over a metre long swimming around inside with the light pitching in from an opening above - made a great picture but too much backscatter. Anyway needless to say I had the opportunity to take loads of pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by triplefin : 23-01-06 at 06:53 AM. |
