Diving In Cyprus / Paphos

Sadly, I've got to stay home and do exams, but my other half is hitting Cyprus in June and is going to be staying near Paphos.

Any reliable (or unreliable) dive operations in that part of the world ?

We used Cydive in 2004.

OK but limited range of sites - it is Cyprus after all.
Guides always seemed to be against the clock rushing back to take a class/organise try dives etc.

They did a decent Zenobia day.

I'd second Cydive for that area, though it was 4-5 years since I was there.

Third for Cydive - they looked after me well as a newly qualified diver last year.

I did my AOW with http://www.divepointcyprus.co.uk/ last year. Great bunch of guys who are very laid back. One thing I did notice was when we were on the Zenobia the other operators out there were rushing about like crazy to get back and we were all just chilling.
I looked at Cydive before I went and they looked good but seemed to be run more like a business with larger groups etc like most of the other operators.
Whoever you choose, the Zenobia is a cracking dive and must a do.

Used to work for Cydive, they'll get you in the water and out on the boats, there's not a lot of operators using decent boats out there, and there's a lot of jeeps with 6 x 12l tanks in the back, best avoided.

Other options I know Dive In are now in the area, they were just setting up when I was out there, but they're a big operation too.

The Zen from Paphos is a long way but really worth it. Depends what you want but if you've got a hire car Rob Jones and Dive Tek can help out with twins and things if that's the way you're thinking. Cydive might be able to help with this but you'll be with a group that will be on singles mostly.

One thing I do know is Cydive has O2 always, carries a full set of spares, and will have DMs minimum taking a group in, often an instructor. That's not always a given with some of the guys out there. Check before you get in the jeep or on the boat.

Digs.

PM me if you've got questions you don't want to ask or I can't answer on the board.

Hi guys,

Thought I would stick my head in here and say a blatant hello!

Any questions you have about Paphos and/or Cyprus in general please feel free to give me a shout.

CyDive is very reputable in Paphos, then again Dive In is very reputable all over the island
If you get the chance try to dive Jubilee shoal in Avdimou and St. George's island in Latsi. Both places are near Paphos but don't miss the Zenobia for any of the two. I'll second Digger's idea of going there with a car (if you're renting one) and meeting in Larnaca either Rob from Dive Tek Cyprus or the meet with the guys from Dive In Larnaca.

Thanks for that folks, I'll find out 'exactly' where she is going (I think it is a little outside Paphos) and get back to you. Just don't think she's up to getting in the water with some 'Johnny Foreigner' who may be a little less aware than they should be just at the moment, but we'll be working on that over the coming months before she goes.

Not sure who is there at the moment, but the two guides/instructors I dived with at Cydive were both English chaps working there.

There is a website which is quite nice: http://www.cydive.com
Also they were pretty good at responding to a raft of email queries before I went out there.

If you do go, tell Jerg I said hello (Not that he'll remember me!)

If you're near Limassol then there's also the Crest Diving Centre at the St. Raphael marina: http://www.crestdive.com
