Question Typhoon Red Sea liveaboard - views?

Hi all,

I'm very close to booking onto Typhoon to do "Brothers Wreck Special" 2-9 April 2006.

Anyone been on this itinerary? Leaves from Sharm, steams down to Brothers doing a few dives on the way apparently, presumably Thistlegorm and some of the other wrecks in the "North".

Anyone been on Typhoon recently? Good, bad, things to be aware of?

Cheers,
Dave.

typhoon in jan

Hi,
Did the wrecks and reefs in january aboard the typhoon, the boat is spot on and was just going in for its annual refit after our trip so should be 100% ship shape for you, i believe they are installing a hot tub as well. I had no problems at all and the crew were superb catering for every need. The the guides also superb you will ove it.

Typhoon

Hi Dave

Yes, I can agree with Lee. The Typhoon is the nicest liveaboard I've been on in the Red Sea so far - I was on the reefs and wrecks itinerary over Christmas. The layout of the boat is excellent, with a superb dining area.

The dive guides on this trip were Steve and Malin, but they are normally on the Diamond - if you are lucky they may be on the Typhoon that week. Their dive briefings were excellent, and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Eighteen months ago I did the Brothers Wreck Special on the Cyclone. Another excellent trip! The journey to the Brother Islands can be rather choppy, so if you tend to suffer from seasickness, don't forget your pills! LOL.

If you have any further questions, PM me.

Have fun!!

Thumbs up

I was on her in August Dave and you'll have no worries. She's the sister ship of the Hurricane and now has the hot tub installed as per Barry's wishes for his dive briefings.

Take chocolate for the guides Barry and Simon (at least that's who we were with) and the crew is fantastic.

Book with confidence and enjoy my friend.

Hey Lisa, interested to hear what the Brother Wreck Special itinerary actually consisted of, as not much detail on TB website.

Presumably Brothers is mid-trip with journeys too and from Sharm broken by stopping at the Abu Nuhas wrecks? How many nights did you stop at Brothers?

Thanks,
Dave

Brothers Wreck Itinerary

Hi Dave

The itinerary for my week at the Brothers:

1) Dunraven
2) Carnatic
3) Giannis D
4) Big Brother (East side)
5) Numidia
6) Aida
7) Little Brother
8) Little Brother
9) Sha'ab Sher
10) Salem Express
11) Panorama Reef
12) Tsha
13) El Mina
14) Kingston
15) Thistlegorm
16) Thistlegorm
17) Thistlegorm
18) Shark/Yolanda

We were at the Brothers for two days and one night (from what I can remember). We did get a chance to visit the lighthouse on Big Brother which was amazing! The guys who lived on the island were great - they shared their shisha around! hehe.

We only saw a couple of sharks in the whole week - (reef sharks), but hopefully you will be a bit luckier.

Didn't get a chance to dive the Rosalie Moller on this trip, but I was lucky enough to dive it this Christmas - amazing!!

Any further questions let me know.

Have fun!

Lis x

Thumbs up

I've just got back from a week on Typhoon. The boat is fantastic and the guides Barry and Tori are fantastic as were the crew. Although I did a different itinerary, I'd definitey recommend the boat and the guides.

As everyone else - This is an excellent trip. Did it last October on Typhoon.

We did the Rosie in addition to those on Finooks' list.

The Guides (Barry & Vikky) were also excellent.

You'll have a fantastic time!
