BA, Backhurst and Baggage?

Booked a Tony Backhurst trip to Red Sea flying to Sharm with BA. Quandary. BA say 23kg hold + 6kg hand, TB in a response to a question on the BSAC forum says 25kg hold + 6kg hand, a TB rep on the phone told me an extra 5kg diver allowance individually booked by the customer. Who is right? Anyone got any recent personal experience to share?

Jim

I fly BA fairly often on business (cattle class only) but not to Egypt. The standard baggage allowance is 23 kg with 6 kg cabin baggage. If you get there early they seem to be pretty relaxed about hold baggage, unless you are seriously overweight. eg I got away with 30kg on a scheduled flight to Hong Kong earlier this year. I have never had my cabin baggage weighed and if you saw what some people took into the cabin you would be shocked. Having said that, the excess baggage charges are 1% of the 1st class fare/kg, I was done for over £1000 when carrying equipment a few years ago.

The best advice is to talk to BA as they have the final say on the issue. If you manage to get an extra allowance make sure you get it in writing just in case. If you think you are going to be seriously overweight, try to get as much in your hand baggage as possible, whilst making it appear light. A laptop bag or small rucksack is good

Oh, and don't take so many clothes, you'll never wear half of them.

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.
