| Lanzarote -combining diving and surfing? Hi all, Am looking to arrange a holiday for myself and some friends to Lanzarote in October or November. I'm the only diver but they all like surfing so though Lanzarote would be a great place where we could all get to do what we enjoy. Can anyone recommend where would be the best place to stay to be near both the surf and the diving? I dont mind driving a little bit if necessary. Also any good dive centres near those locations? Thanks Helen ![]()

| Ok two main options and a third which I would probably discount. First up basic windsurfing outfits/schools are mainly at Costa Teguise on the East side, however the actual windsurfing proper takes place in the North at Famara. Not surprisingly wind, waves & divers dont tend to go together, so very little diving in the North. In fact the only outfit close to Famara would be La Santa, but they dont dive there and you would end up driving to the south to go diving. All the other dive outfits are in the south so this time you would have to head north to go windsurfing. So IMO your best bet is to base yourself at Costa Teguise. This gets you in contact with all the surf shops (lots of transport to the north etc.) and with Calipso Diving, they also dive on the North east at Mala. This way you are in a resort that has an infrastructure, which has both. HTH Rgds TerryH Calipso Diving A Premier Dive School in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, Canary Islands |

| Can I throw a spanner in the works???!!! Tenerife? Las Galletas has probably got about 50% of the islands diving and El Medano has most of the Islands surfing and Kite/wind surfing and its world class there. They are approx. 8km apart. You can surf in Las Galletas but its nowhere near the quality of El Medano. Hopper
