You know what I'm going to say Lou.....Mike. Tenerife has a lot to offer families, excellent year round diving ang a resident cuban.

I have seen mike teach discover Scubas and OW students etc, he is an excellent relaxed instructor and that is where I most comfortable when my SO wanted to try a DSD, we have both decided that if she should want to do a OW it would be with Mike. To make it blatant, having dived with Mike, done my DM with him, watched him with students etc when 'lil c' comes to learn to dive it will be with him if at all possible.

Besides if its next Summer I may be there to keep an eye on him for ya

Failing that, in most resorts, Egypt, Med, canaries etc, the schools have quite a high turnover of staff so you can't really be sure who will be training you when the course comes around. The exception I would make to that would be Maltaqua who seem to have really high consistent standards (probably due to them being , I believe, the oldest IDC in the Med and have a tendency to cherry pick the best candidates for their staff)

Corralejo Fuerteventura. Max depth 20 meters, great for a family holiday not too sausage and chips with some nice restaurants and cheap to stay at and get to. There's a great dive centre there (which I can dig out the info if you wanted) that's purpose built and aven has it's own pool, great staff and not expensive either - and locally run and owned. It's one of the best diving hols I've ever had, and there's loads to do on the island as well, if you're not diving.

His 13/14 year old daughter wants to learn to dive but the following criteria apply..

1. Must be warm water - she is "nesh" apparently.
2. The area must be suitable for a family holiday and they really aren't Costa del Sol types. More things to visit and walking I would guess
3 He suggestedt he Med so I wouldn't expect longhaul to be on the cards
4. Time - next summer

Locations would be good - recommendations of specific schools would be great.

Cheers

Lou

Also in Fuerteventura

There is Deep Blue in Caleta de Fuste. A good friendly outfit with who I have dived with a couple of times (and I'm going back in Novemer).

I'd recommend Dave as an instructor - we did our RD last summer in Pte Pollensa, Majorca and had a great time.

Porte Pollensa is near to Alcudia and looks like a finished vesion of Spain, i.e. all the buildings are finished!

I believe Dave's lot do pickups, but we trained with him when he was working in Pollensa.

It's got a nice family seaside town atmosphere and there looks to be plenty of hill walking along the coastal route back to Palma down the West side of the island.

There's also Scuba Mallorca in Pte Pollensa, but since it's the training you're after, I'm not sure who you'd get there, but can recommend them for their excellent dive guide, Ron.

I am sat in Red Sea Relax now and definately recommend it.

My pleasure. I find Paul to be one of the most conscientious instructors I have met. She will be in very safe hands.
