They have spacious dive decks for 10 to 16 divers. All boats carry life rafts, oxygen and first aid kits, and are staffed by an experienced captain, crew and a European dive master. Three meals a day are prepared by the chef and soft drinks and snacks are available all day. Tea, cofffee and water are inclusive, while soft drinks and alcohol are paid for locally. The Diving: Itinerary: Strait of Gubal & the wrecks Both itineraries combine the most famous wrecks in the northern Red Sea with stunning wall and hard coral-garden reef diving. Dive the famous four wrecks of Abu Nuhas, the ships' graveyard; Giannis D, Carnatic, Sea Star, Chrisoula K. This reef lies close to the shipping lane towards the Suez Canal, and has claimed more ships than any other area in the Red Sea. They are very scenic, fantastic for photography, and covered in corals, especially the Carnatic, that sank in 1869. The famous SS Thistlegorm and the recently discovered Rosalie Moller are Second World War wrecks, and are one of the highlights of this itinerary. The SS Thistlegorm sunk in 1941; bombed by the Germans, while on a mission to deliver a cargo of ammunition and war material to the British troops in North Africa. The Rosalie Moller, a British coal cargo, suffered the same destiny only two days later. Close to the Port of Safaga lies the wreck of the ferry Salem Express that tragically hit a reef 10 years ago when coming back from Saudi Arabia, claiming more than a thousand lives. Many fish and corals have now made it their home. This cruise will also take you to Ras Mohammed National Park, at the tip of Sinai, famous for its breath-taking walls rich in soft and fan corals and populated with huge shoals of fish. Nutrient-rich sediments from the Gulf of Aqaba attract many fish species and also feed the coral polyps, creating a paradise for divers. In between wrecks you will also visit the local reefs which are very rich and wide-ranging. The variety of colourful walls and hard coral gardens with plenty of colourful fish make them well worth a visit. (Sharm El Sheikh departures also visit Thomas Reef, Jackson Reef and Strait of Tiran) To book or for more info please email info@divechannel.co.uk or call us on 0870 880 2848.
