BA Announce New Baggage Allowance

I got an email from BA today announcing the new travel allowances they are introducing from 13 Feb 2007. Details are also posted on their web site.

It seems a lot simpler; everything is based on multiples of 23kg bags. You are allowed one bag in World Traveller (two if you are going to the US), two in World Traveller Plus and three in Club and First Class.

More importantly though you can also check up to 45kgs of diving equipment, in addition to your normal allowance:-
Diving equipment kit
Diving equipment kit comprises of facemask, pair of fins, pressure gauge, regulator, safety vest, snorkel, tanks and weights belt, snorkel,
NB Sporting goods weighing over 23kg will require pre-notification. E.g. diving equipment up to a maximum weight of 45kgs and the cylinder must be empty to ensure safe handling
This seems pretty reasonable to me, though I will stilll be sending my twinset to Scapa by car.

If I tag some diving on to a business trip I could take 114kgs of luggage - which would be great until I get off the plane and try to find a trolley big enough!

Steve

Thumbs up

this seems like a great approach by BA. Slight tilt of the hat to them...

I guess this means I will be travelling in the 'posh' cabin from now on

We will find out if this is true when some one flies with them and has to pay EXCESS BAGGAGE.

Wonder if this will include a rebreather in a Kent Tooling frame ?

But it does make me wonder what golfers will be getting to redress the imbalance though!!! Maybe a golfers mile-high-club concession..... a guaranteed hole-in-one!?!?!?

Regards
Midnight
