| Hi All, I am trying to plan a cheap diving trip to either Kenya or Thailand for the beginning of Feb. Will be travelling on my jack ( no other chums can get time off !!! ) Can anyone suggest favourable places to stay and dive centres to use that wont break the bank!! There are so many offers/ choices its becoming a bit of a pain in the rear to choose , so I thought I would ask for opinions to try and narrow my choice down!! Looking for a relaxing 7 days of diving .... fish , coral , wreck or two , nothing more adventurous or demanding thank you!! Liveaboard is not a consideration , hotel with daily boat dives please!!! Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Tobermorey. |

| I'm going to Kenya on Monday night for 7 days, similar to you, I'll do a trip report when I get back, in the meantime, you may get some hints from my thread about it Mombasa here I come £300 per week but I've got a flight for £210, and the rest I'll sort out over there, that way I'll only be staying in a hotel that I like my only word of advice so far is, if you are thinking of Kenya, you should start to think about getting injections and anti malaria things sorted now, in fact, it's probably a good idea to do it, even if you are going to Thailand

| Never been to Thailand, but have been to Kenya twice. The diving was excellent. I did a trip report, it is here. If you go, take a couple of days (or the last 2) out and go on a short safari.

I have looked at the Whitesands Resort ? is it any good? how far away from the dive centre? Also flights either from Gat or Heath? What is the nearest airport to the resort and is it direct? also what is the transfer like? As I say, just need help on the Hotels and the filghts and I'll be pretty much done!!! | I have never stayed at Whitesands, both times was at Voyager. I don't know what the set up is at Whitesands, although I think that they run boats from there as well as a couple of other places.

| I have been to Thailand 10 times now. Once your there everything is cheap. Accommodation from £5 a night, meals in a restaurant from 50p, diving shore dives for £10 or 3 dive day trip with lunch for £40. There are so many dive centres you won't be more than 5 minutes walk from one if your on the coast. There used to be 22 dive centres on Phi Phi, the area where it was developed was no more than 1/2 mile square!! Diving is excellent most places, Feb you would go to the Andaman Sea (west side) Khoa Lak, Ao Nang, Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Lanta. Ao Nang is the cheapest, Rai-lay beach is superb and just down from Ao Nang. You don't need Malaria jabs for southern Thailand either. |

| Tobermorey If you do not go to Kenya and since you are not keen on a Liveaboard cruise February is 1 of the nicest months to go on the daytrips or local dives off Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Lanta etc. Whatever you decide happy diving. Chantal |
