Increase in Airport Departure Tax

If I have already booked a Backhurst Red Sea liveabord trip for May this year (as indeed I have) do I have to pay this supplement ?

The attached seems to indicate not if (figures permitting, which they do) the additional charge is less than 2% of the trip cost, when the operator should absorb.

I know the cheap flight airlines are going to be passing it on, but not sure about big travel package holidays etc.

I listened to the report on the news about it yesterday. If if is a protected package holiday then you shouldn't have to pay extra.

If you booked flights then if you booked before Decembers announcement and are flying after February's implementation you MAY have to pay...its up to the Airline.

So you shouldn't have to pay but you really should check with TB

Some airlines like BA said they'd absorb the cost from all advance bookings.

Ryanair werent letting you fly if not paid by midnight before.

Easyjet if not paid by 1/2/07

Virgin hadnt decided.

But yes, <2% airlines are required to absorb the cost and any ABTA protected package is safe. Really means it'll effect the budget flights more.

Going by that i'd say the OP is safe as its a protected package.

I've just looked on Excels website (is it Excel you are travelling with?), there doesn't seem to be any mention of it on there - maybe worth giving TBS a call - they should be able to give you an answer.
