It really depends exactly how much you feel the cold. I was in Sharm in November last year and dived in a 3mm shortie (3 dives per day) without any problems. My buddy used a 3mm full suit and felt a bit cold (although not badly) when surfacing at the end of the second and third dives each day.

The water temperature at the bottom then was 25-26 degrees according to Suunto.

For October, given that you say that you do feel the cold, I would suggest a 3mm full suit.

About 2 weeks ago. Water temp 28 degrees. Occasionally you would get a "cold bit" on the Thistlegorm.

Then again I don't really feel the cold much. I'd go with the 3mm full suit suggestion. A rash vest underneath makes a difference too and stops it from rubbing.

I've just got back and used a 3mm full all week with four dives a day and I was starting to feel the cold by the end of each dive, so I'd say a 5mm would be a good choice.

Enjoy it

She's bought her own 5mm long yesterday, ( very pretty colours )

but I thought that it would be a good idea for her, to borrow a 5mm shorty too, so that she's got an option of long or short when over there

im also goin to sharm for liveaboard early oct.

i have a 3mm full length and am thinking another vest underneath...

i am looking at an online shop and i dont know which one to choose, any ideas?

what's the difference between thermo vest and neo vest?? neo vest is thicker and not as flexible as thermo?

Neo Vest
1. Quiksilver Syncro 1mm Neoprene Vest,1mm Hyperstretch shoulder and gusset, 1mm Superlite thermo foam chest and back, Flatlocked stitching, Key loop, Available in black as shown or Red

2. Billabong Foil 2mm Neo Vest, made of 50% Dry Max Super Flex neoprene with flatlock construction for extra comfort, colour black as shown, keyloop, Excellent for all year round use, summer on its own or winter under your suit to boost warmth.

Thermo Vest
3. Billabong Furnace Thermo Tank Top constructed from 80% Nylon 20% Spandex giving excellent warmth and flexibility. You don't have to get cold, the Thermo Tank top will boost the warmth of any wetsuit and can be worn on its own in the summer.

4. Billabong Furnace Hooded Vest, constructed from 80% Nylon 20% Spandex giving excellent warmth and flexibility. You don't have to get cold, the Thermo Tank top will boost the warmth of any wetsuit and can be worn on its own in the summer.

thanks in advance

I've got me a one of these O'Three Shortjohn that I put on with my 3mm full suit when I was in Sharm in March and I was toasty warm through my bimbly dives.

Keeps your bum warmer than a vest, though I have no idea if that's a good or bad thing.

Bestest

Allie
