I was with a boat full of Americans and apart from the odd one or 2 they were fine! They are diving Americans which makes a BIG difference!! And in August this year I dived in my 3mm (very old nearer 1.5mm) shorty and was fine! Did wear a long suit for dives where surge was expected as you are hiding in the reef (rocks) watching the hammers and can get scraped a bit. But temp wise I was fine (bit of natural insulation though - maybe not for skinny people!!) With 150 dives you will be fine - Ras Mo (Shark Reef) with a strong current is FAR more tricky that what we encountered in Cocos. You are diving from skiffs (hard boats just for the diving) so if there is current you go with it and the boat follows the guide's SMB. One dive we drifted over a mile and a half with current and met a pod of dolphins which was shooed off by the school of silkies that came in for a look!! Go for it!! And can't recommend Undersea Hunter Group too highly - although I would choose the slightly bigger Sea Hunter boat again - just a bit more space!!

I did Cocos on the Sea Hunter in October 2005. FAB
Looking at one of my logs I wrote something like "An OK dive, only saw about 50 white tips" . I'd done less than 100 dives even by the end of the trip, I didn't find it too challenging.
I don't recall being cold (I'm known as Mrs Cardi) and although it rained a lot, It didn't spoil anything for me as I'm not a sun worshiper.

Channel 5 every day next week at around 7:15 ish is showing Nigel Marvin Shark Island at Cocos.

Ok - my minds made up

Just have to persuade my sister to go to Cocos instead of a Maldives Liveaboard and I'm away!

Hi water baby, we are booked to go in December. We booked through maldives scuba tours. However, I do think its cheaper to book direct. Also Geodive and Aquafirma offered me the same trip cheaper. I decided to go with MST since we travelled with them before and they were more well known at the time.

I would book with another agent next time and go with the cheapest cause I think the service you get is the same!!!!

I tell you who you could try and that is scubadivingtours.co.uk - email jason@scubadivingtours.co.uk. tell him what you want, give him a couple of days and he will come back with your price.

He is good at what he does, reliable and accurate. We have booked our last holiday (to Sipadan and Bali - tailormade) and also sulawesi for next year through him. His prices were the best and he is a pleasure to deal with. I will not book again without going to him first.

His tailormade trips come out basically slightly cheaper than if you did all the hard work yourself.

(by the way I dont work for him, am just a very pleased customer )

Scubadivingtours will be at the dive show so you can contact them there also.

Lou

Cocos - tour operator

Thanks Lou

I have looked at MST too, as like you, I have travelled with them several times. Looking around though, re price and availability, so thanks for the link. I don't know that company, so will take a look.

cheers

If your going to Cocos then you might want to watch Chanel 5 at 19:15 every night this week.
Nigel Marvin is doing a shark special about the Cocos Islands
