| I have been on a few diving holidays with my 2.5-yr old son and it is quite possible, even if you both dive. L'Estartit has been mentioned and it is a good choice - I went in August this year and did a write up on here: Medas Islands August 2007 He also went to Tenerife when he was very young (6 months) and he has been to Egypt twice. When they are really young, they will not really get what is going on so in some ways could be easier to travel with. Now my lad loves travelling so i guess starting them early helps. As other people have said it can be quite stressful, so don't try to be too ambitious - esp for your first trip. And while taking the GPs along means you might have babysitting you also have GPs to deal with. After a couple of trips with the GPs, we now go on holiday alone and share the diving while the other one goes to the beach with the lad. Cheers, ant |

I have a bruised arm now after she punched me so I doubt I will suggest Anglesey, lovely as I am sure it is! Pregnant women can be very aggressive! |

| Congratulations! Mrs S and I took young 'Eric the Fish' to Sharm when he was 3 months old. We stayed in the Naama Hotel (4 * according to the brochure) and had a fantastic time. I got some diving in. They came on the boat with me for a couple of days and he loved it. He also loved splashing around in the pool. The sun wasn't a problem 'cos we kept him out of it and went in the pool only when there was shade over it. I wouldn't want to do a really long flight with a small baby, but 4 hours or so shouldn't cause any significant difficulties. I would suggest you remember that you still exist as independent humans as soon as possible: go out in the evenings again as soon as you can. Grannies/granddads will love to look after the little one. Also, the more he gets used to other (trusted) adults, the lower the screaming levels when you do go out alone. Have fun, I know you will

| All the best for your impending new arrival. Despite my plans to the contrary, my diving has had to take a bit of a back seat to family life once my two boys came along. This is no bad thing - enjoy the time you can spend with them. I did enjoy a trip to the Florida Keys with my wife and eldest son when he was 11 months. Apart from the long flight (which wasn't too bad) this has got a lot going for it - no unpleasant diseases, good healthcare, culturally easy, lots of shops for baby stuff. We did a few days in Key West. Not great with kids unless you have a babysitter as it is so nightlife based. Followed up by a few days in Key Largo - lots of diving opportunities and plenty to keep the family amused. All the best Paul

| We are also thinking of what our options are for next summer as we are expecting our first baby early next month. I'll be watching this thread to see what your suggestions are ![]()

| Congratulations to you and also to Midnight and Co. We holiday in Menorca quite a bit as my folks have been going every since I was a wee lad, and now live there, so it helps keep the costs down. Cala n Bosc is a nice resort, with a Water Park if you have older children. Menorca is a lovey family freindly island, with no major Nightclubs, so its quiet. You could stay anywhere on the island though as there are large diving outfits in nearly every resort. No matter where you decide on I'd recomend late in the season, as the water will be at its warmest and the air temp will be cooler, which helps the baby. it tends to be colder earlier in the season and a dip in the sea is definately only for the brave.
