7mm will be fine, don't worry, better too hot than cold. You won't be too hot in the water, if there is no wind keep suit unzipped till last min then kit up quick and jump in. No problem. Had 26 degrees doing day boats mid oct in a 5mm did not need a hood, but worth taking better safe than sorry when doing 4 dives a day. Extra two mm will be fine.

Enjoy and safe diving.

Hey

Perfect time of year to go. Shorts are great during the day but take something warm including socks for evening! At the moment the water is 26 degrees so a 5 mm and hood will be good. I have done lots of northern wreck safaris over the last 6 years and can guarantee that you will have the most amazing holiday.

Let me know how it goes.

Tori

Slightly bad news from a local!! The sun is still shining but winter arrived about 4 days ago! It is still lovely in the sun but you need to be out of the wind too! Air temp is only hitting mid 20s (beats UK mind you!!) so a sweatshirt between dives will be useful too, the 7mm will be perfect and Tori's suggestion of socks is an excellent one!! Evening wear (esp on liveaboards) jogging pants, sweat and even fleece if you want to sit on deck from sunset onwards. Visibility is fab though and while windy at the moment is due to drop right off by the end of this week. Have a great time!!

WindGURU:

This is a really good site for weather here. It is aimed at windsurfers so it has accurate wind predictions which is the thing which obviously most affects how comfortable your boat trip will be!! It shows one week ahead and the 23rd on looks a bit windy and unusually a bit cloudy - but 1 week is a pretty longterm forecast so fingers crossed it improves!!

Just got back this morning after two weeks and the weather was still hot during day but had turned a lot cooler on a night especially the last four days.

At the HEPCA web site it is stated that Thistlegorm will be closed from 2nd of December and 10 days onward:
News about the environmental protection of the Red Sea
I have had an e-mail correspondence with Amr Ali, Managing Director HEPCA, and he confirmed that Thistlegorm was open for diving up to the 2nd of December.
