Talking Red Sea November Weather?

Hello,

I am off to the Red Sea on the 16th November for a liveaboard going round the northern wrecks. I was wondering what the weather will be like?
Will it still be warm enough for shorts in the day time or should i take warmer clothes?

Thank you for your comments in advance
Kei

Hi

I have not been before but I'm going out on 23rd Nov. Afriend of mine who has been before said to take shorts and tee shirt for the day but joggy bottoms and sleeved top for the evening as it can get a tad chilly after the sun goes down.

Hope this helps. What boat you going on?

Rustferret

Hi Kei,
I've just got back (Sunday), 35 deg. in the day ,
night time was still warm with just shorts & a T shirt (last year it got a bit chilly because of the the wind) so i would take a fleece just in case.

During the day shorts and T-shirt will be fine, for diving I would use a full 5mm and take a 3mm to go over it I would also recommend taking a hood all depends on how much you feel the cold. I would take a good fleece as after the dive the wind chill can make you very cold very quickly. If you have a membrane dry suite I would consider taking this instead of the wetsuits with a thin under suit you will be a lot better off and wont feel the wind after the dive. As you are on a live aboard then 3 dives a day with maybe a night dive there is nothing worse that putting a cold damp wetsuit back on. Nights onboard jumper jogging bottoms / fleece will be fine.

4 of our group dived in just shorts and T shirt / rash vests most of the week, they never got cold.
Personally i was in a 5mm, i did consider shorts though.
One guy on another boat was in a dry suit, we did feel sorry for him as he must of been baking hot!

wow a mixture of thoughts...

so basically may need to wrap up in the evenings a bit! thanks!

i wish i had a 5mm but the budget will not stretch to that at the moment. I am going to take my 7mm wetsuit as if hot at least i can flush water through it.

rustferret: i am going on the valerie, its a dive centre/club holiday so at least will know the rest of the people on the boat.

sean: will def pack a hood - guess its better to have it and not need it, than need it and its back in the uk!

will the viz be any different than in July?

The sea temp was 28 deg at Ras Katy, every where else (Dunraven, Ghiannis D, Thistlegorm etc) was between 26 & 27 deg.

Last year we went a month later (25th November) and the sea temp during the day never dropped below 24 deg (up to 25 deg), so yes i would expect the temp to drop a little, but it was really windy last year.
I also used my 5mm last year and never once got cold (without a hood, but taken just in case)
