Hi - I'm flying out to Phuket on new year's eve (arrive Jan 1st). I'm told that I'll have no problem finding a dive center for day trips/overnight trips, but what is the accomodation situation at this time of year.
any recommendations?
I'm having problems trying to book over the net.
In general the big hotels will be (almost) fully booked, but there will always be places available in the guesthouses. We book these for our guests, I know there are some that offer the same service, and others that do not.

Hi Okeanos
When are you coming? Do you want same same accommodation?

Otherwise as Stevenl says there are still guesthouse our bungalow style establishments with en suite rooms available.

Regards from Phuket and a Merry Christmas to you all.

See Bees?

Anyone got any experience of M/Y Genesis 1 - It's a small boat run by See Bees diving that does a 3 day trip to Richeleui Rock - I wanted a small boat as it will be less rammed but I only have 3 or 4 days to spare on my trip to do the west coast (will be in Ko Tao for most of the trip)

Stevenl's company is called Phuket dash Scuba now - he used to be affiliated with Sea Bees. Sea Bees is based in Chalong and has been in operation for many years.

Genesis is an older boat. Well run, and on the boat you will be well taken care of. Quite often the majority of the guests will be German, and if you were to be the only non-German, that is not something I would recommend (the same goes for Japanese, Korean, Thai, English, etc.).
One of the few options to make a shorter trip, especially on a small boat.
