There's loads or liveaboards to choose from depending on how many days and how much luxury you want. Do Richilieu Rock if you get a chance.

Day trips, again there's quite a few. There's a nice overnighter to Phi Phi. Try and do Hin Daeng/Muang.

I've been on the Jonathan CRuiser 3 times, it's very basic but the food is great. I like the large sundeck too. I did the 5 day 6 nights each time.

Steven from SeeBees in on YD, he'll probably pop by in a minute.

stevenl saw the sea in a book once
Jonathan Cruiser as mentioned is a basic boat, but: excellent food, guests from different nationalities with emphasis on Scandinavians, and the best food of all boats. Always very happy guests on this boat.

Sea Bees are well organised, but on your trips with them you will be surrounded by germans, I would guess over 90% of their guests are German speaking.

For the Similans, go for a trip with minimum 4 days/4 nights, so you can visit all the highlights including Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock at a relaxed pace.

There are many more boats, and some, like Jonathan Cruiser, offer excellent value for money.

One of the nicest daytrips (well, also overnight) is a 2 days/1 night trip to Phi Phi, where you see quite a few of the Phuket and Phi Phi divesites. You stay overnight on Phi Phi, so you get the feeling of that island also.

Smile Phuket

I have been to Patong on Phuket twice now and use Scuba Cat, look at Scuba Diving - Liveaboards - Padi IDC – Tec Diving - Phuket – Thailand - Scuba Cat Diving for all my diving. Their livaboards are good and not expensive. Had a great 3 day livaboard to Min Huang & Min Duang a few years ago, saw 10 Manta Rays, the business. Have a look around the very large site for more info.

Hope it helps?

Stay away from hin daeng hin muang, as mentioned in a previous thread and backed up by someone working out there, it has not recovered from an algae bloom that killed a lot of coral, so no reef fish. Was out there in march and told to miss out hin daeng hin muang then.

See bees are a good company, great boats very new, they are a very safety conscious and go to all the local sites. The guides are predominantly german as are their customers but good guys and have good diver/guide ratios no more than 6 i think. They get quite a few repeat british customers, which says a lot.

They also have daytrips and livaboards that go to the similians from Kao Lak.

As mentioned on a previous thread you may be better booking liveaboards when you are out there, better deals as there is qiuit a bit of competition to choose from.

HTH

Okeanos, the jonathan cruiser looks a good bet to start with, have you used them for any day trips? Cheers Paul
