| I have just looked at the map in the link mentioned above. I know this project cost a lot of money, a lot of time and a lot of divers. This is the only proper survey of the site and it is trusted as it was done by a British dive magazine. The Arch is shown as 52msw. This is very wrong and I cannot believe that they made such a big mistake. Did they do it during a low tidal week? It is mistakes like this that lead people to their deaths. You need to add 5msw to this to pass through safely. It is popular with the final dive in the Extended Range courses. Mas depth in the course is 55msw. |

You can't do both. The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits. |

| Quote: There is a guy who took a camera down with him. He died and the camera kept running. It shows his death. It can be found on-line if you look. The diver was russian and he had a head mounted video camera the footage can be found on youtube under "Fatal Diving Accident Caught on Tape" it makes very sobering viewing as does the film made by the group who had to recover the body. I think that people should watch and learn by it. Caroline |

| I am not sure if it is true but I have heard that in Israel it is shown to open water students. |

| Red Sea Incidents There are many many more incidents and fatalities in the Red Sea then those that come into the press and crop up on forums etc. The reality is that pretty much everyone does there best to keep it quiet, from the authorities to the diving centers to the boats & crews. Why? well quite simply put if a dive centre has a serious incident or fatality most people don't bother to look for the facts, more likely they think along the lines of 'hey that dive centre killed someone last week i'm not going diving with them..' However before i get attacked for defending dive operators etc. i have to say that i do not necessarily agree with this approach, actually I beleive alot of people/dive centers/instructors/guides etc. could learn from reveiving a report from time to time sumarising incidents, and knowing what is going wrong. reports do not have to mention names. There are far too many people working here who just think it will not happen to them, or it won't happen on their boat etc. and that is definatly a wrong attitiude, of course by knowing what does go wrong and that people do actually die or get injured or end up in the pot then maybe some incidents could be prevented. Finaly it would do good for dive centers in general to have more 'quality checks' on their staff and be sure that they actually can do what there cards and CV say they can, but this is another story... |

The last time I dived there, a group of six divers on single tanks were being led through by a guide. Wages for guides in Dahab are very low, it reflects the cheap prices to dive. A small tip and you can do anything. |
