Hotel Pyrimisa, Sharks Bay

Hi,

I'm spending two weeks at Hotel Pyrimisa in Sharks bay, Sharm, over christmas/newyear. It's a family outing so diving is semi-secondary in my priorities. I'll do a couple of dives or 10 just to be sociable. I dived them parts before so know what to expect from the diving.

The hotel has one of them Mr. Diver outfits on site. I've never come accross them before. Their website looks fair to average so no hints there.

Anyone dived with them or stayed at that hotel??

Looking on tripe advisor I see that it's got very mixed reviews. Certainly there will be lots of Ruskies there but I can show them a thing or two about ignorance and arrogance if needs be!!

Anfd finally if any of you good people will be there at the same time it would be nice to have my first YD eyeball

Paul

Not sure about Mr Diver, but oonas divers are based in sharks bay, they can sort you out. They are based in eastbourne give them a call or drop them an email. They can be found on yd'ers as well. Big thumbs up to them.

Hmmm.

I've been thinking about oonas divers. I dived on the Juliet with them last year and had no probs.

I wasn't planning on booking anything specific before gettng there else I'll be getting slapped and prodded by she who slaps and prods for turning this into a diving holiday before we even get there.

I will make enquiries though.

Yep, stayed there a couple of times. Hotel is mixed .. mostly OK. Food was good & so was accomodation, loads of people moaned - but we couldn't find anything to whine about.
Mr Diver - forget them, bunch of w..... (IMHO) of course.
We went with outfit in Narma Bay - they will pick up & return you, but its a long day (7.30am pick up)
do some research on prices b4 u go. Pre-booking makes divng cheaper.

Thanks Andy,
Trying to avoid early starts. I'm on holiday and its christmas and I'm a lazy git!

I wonder what it was you didn't like about Mr. Diver. I've dived with in house outfits before and found them bareable at leat.

I see that Oonas have their "Umbi Village" next door along the "beach". I've snt them an e.mail asking if accept take non residents for diving.

I'm a single tank no-stop kinda guy so I don't need anything to exotic. Too many shore dives with novices can take it's toll though!

Mr. Diver aren't 'in-house' - they are just by the same beach. IMHO they were unprofessional (won't say more).

watch your tum

Hi Paul
did the same thing 2 years ago took the wife and children Sorry to say this, but it is the only time we have ever stayed in a bad hotel , food poor, smelt of sewage dirty, water rationing and unhelpful staff we would have come home after 2 days but they did have a good swimming pool.
As for Mr Diver if you are an experienced and confident diver and have a good buddy you should be ok! use your judgement and dont be pushed to adopting practices that you are not happy with, build up slowly take your own regs if you can Ocean College are extremely professional and are continually praised at least you wont be expecting a good 4 star hotel try and make the most of it.we say its the company that you are with try and laugh it off but watch your tum

Hi Paul

Email on its way to you, you can book locally if you wish, but as its a peak time I would recommend securing a package and at least your first day in advance, the rest could of course be arranged on site.

I've used them - they have a dive guide called Adel who has been guiding over 20 years in the Red Sea and is very serious about marine preservation and how to dive responsibly with that in mind. He's very professional and a credit to the company...and I would recommend him and Umbi without hesitation.
