Question Oman Or Jordan

Looking at booking a holiday in the New Year but need a little help.

I,ve dived in Oman (Fantastic) through Regaldive, (even managed to fit in a dive with Neil at Muscat Divers. )

Does anybody know anything about the diving around Aquaba in Jordon??

Diving would all be standard holiday diving, No RB.

The idea is to do a combined diving and Horse Riding holiday

Anybody done any horseriding in either country??

Or anybody got any suggestions for other countries to combine the two that time of year. Horse Riding has to be Novice to Intermediate?

Any help much appreciated

Not dived either but we have often looked at this... Mrs W is a keen rider... I mainly fall off horses...

Riding Jordan Desert Holiday Lawrence of Arabia

Petra by horseback safari has an appeal all of its own....

Seeing as you have been here before I think you show go to Jordan....

However, should you come here I know someone who rides with the Royal Cavalry stables and my wife has contacts at the Royal Oman Police equestrian centre. Sure we could arrange something.

More diving with Muscat Divers is easy.......

To be honest I found the diving in Jordan to be rather disappointing, I dont know if it comes from the cruise ships which come into Aqaba port or the locals, but their is a fair amount of rubbish on some of the near shore reefs (tyres, plastic bags e.t.c.) and not as much life as on the Egyptian side (Taba e.t.c. ).

The Cedar pride was a good dive but the tank is only novelty value in about 5mtrs and had poor visibility when I was there as it is close enough to the shore for snorkelers to swim out to and stir up the sandy bottom.

I didn't dive the power station so can't comment but it's supposed to be quite a good dive, also their is a barge called the (tai yong) in about 50 mtres if you want to get a bit techie.

I did not horse ride when I was there but there are plenty of fantastic excursions above the water and Petra and Wadi Rum are a must.

If you are tailoring your trip more towards diving than horse riding then I would go for Oman.

Hope you have a good time wherever you go.

W.C.D.

p.s
Lots of diving AND horseriding in Egypt.

I agree with this post entirely. The diving I did in Aqaba was not outstanding, there was ALWAYS a lot of rubbish in the sea, I've never seen anything as bad, and the coral was not nearly as good as Egypt.

The Cedar Pride is worth a dive or 2, but diving the Tank was like diving in a sandstorm!
Some of our group dived the deeper barge and said it was good though.

I did Petra on a day trip, which was good, but I wished we'd taken longer to do it really, over night at least, as we were rushed and did not see a lot we would have liked, especially as the diving wasn't too fantastic!
