| Center Parks indoor heated Pool? Conor, you want a short flight but warm water. I think this might be hard to fullfill. Good luck. Dave C

| Water temp in the Med (Malta, Cyprus, Spain) should be around 12 - 16 degrees C in March. I suspect Tenerife is going to be colder (Any atlantic diving will be)!! If Egypt is off then you'll struggle for anything more convenient for your criteria than Malta......just resign yourself to a dry or semi dry suit. |

| The short flight is a bit a limiting factor. If you can do 5 hours, and our 5 month old did it without issue, Egypt still offers the greatest value for money. We did El Gouna in December and if your Missus doesn't really go for Egypt this might still be an option as you are completely insulated from the true Egypt if that's what you want. The site is subject to strict regulations as to what is allowed and you'll find your holiday is completely hassle free...other than the cattle shed at Hurghada airport. The complex is guarded and you never need to leave the site to entertain yourselves. Transport is cheap and plentiful and there is a 'dine around' scheme whereby you can go to any of the other Hotels or restaurants on site and get a free, or subsidised, meal. The adult all inclusive price was £360 per adult and £160 for a child aged 12, free for the baby. This was only £20 more than the price for a B&B deal in Tenerife! Georgina, here on YD, is resident out there and is a mine of information.

| Conor, point 6. in your list in March could be a problem. If Egypt isn't appealing (I took mine at 9 months, she loved it), it's a 6ish hour flight, then you could think about either Dubai, flight is slightly longer, and very expensive when you are out there. Or go the other way to the Caribbean... some good deals going on over there, but not so sure about the SC accommodation - I've only ever been AI, food has always been great... not sure about Dom Rep though, it's mixed reports for there... Also, bear in mind you are talking Eastertime this year? Prices are always higher for the week either side of this holiday... as you've got the little one, make the most of not having to stick to school holidays and leave it a week or two, until the prices come back down... Pete

| Thanks for the replies guys, you are right, the flight is the real limiting factor, I just feels bad for other passengers when a baby decides to throw a fit for 5 hours on a plane, hopefully that wouldn't happen but you can't be sure. I think it comes down a straight choice, Long flight and convincing SWMBO to come to egypt or me biting the bullet and taking the drysuit on holiday.

| I vote Egypt We took Young Eric The Fish to Sharm when he was 3 months old and stayed in the Naama Bay Hotel. Everyone in the hotel was fantastic, the flight was no problem at all and I had a great time diving! Chris

| Lanzarote March will be sunny and warm and have a water temp of about 19 degrees. We'll be out later this month and nobody will be in anything other than a single 5mm and no hood. Lanzarote is very different to Tenerife. It's got white sand beaches and is very much geared around apartment/aparthotels rather than hotels. Flight times are just under 4 hours and where we are based in Costa Teguise is extremely family friendly, with some sheltered lagoons which are ideal for a day on the beach. http://www.bsac1624.co.uk/Gallery/La...h%20(OWIC).jpg Average apartment like this one is a stroll away from that beach and even has a heated pool. ![]() For the dive part, check us out or just ask some of the people on here what we are like :-) Calipso Diving Lanzarote -About Us Last edited by TerryH : 07-01-08 at 01:24 PM. |
