| I believe Divers Delight operate from Marmaris, along with European Diving Centre. European Diving Centre – Red Sea Turkey Spain UK Diving with Divers Delight in Turkey Most of the diving is from boats called gulets (traditional wooden boats, kitted out for divers/ snorkellers). Or purpose built dive boats (wet deck at sea level, dry deck uptop). The diving in Turkey is okay, but not spectacular - very little current gets to this part of the Med, so there isn't the food/ nutrients in the water to encourage some of the larger sealife (the locals did go through a phase of using dynamite to fish with, that didn't help, either!). That said, the topography can be spectacular, and there are one or two very good sites in the area, but you have to really press to get to them. HTH Pete

| My advice walk along and go into each and every boat and find someone willing to do the dives you want to and you feel comfy with. Cant remember who I dived with out there but I only got a couple of dives in |

| Justme, If you never been to Marmaris before? I'll recommend taking the ferry over to Rhodes for the day, just to have a break from being hassled by every Turkish Shop, Bar or Restaurant Owner every time you set foot out side your hotel On the diving side, I have no idea as I didn't dive when I went and I have no wish to go back to find out. Hope your experience is better as it was a good few years ago when I went. Last edited by Stesh : 22-01-08 at 11:58 AM. |

| Last time I went was about 7 years ago. Best bit of advice I could give you is hire a car and get the hell out of there. Ulu Deniz is miles nicer.

| Got to admit, it nearly put me off going back to Turkey. Stu, (justme) don't know if you've been there before, and don't know you, but it might be worth trying further along the coast for a base to stay... Pete

| Turkey is a fantastic country as soon as you get out of the touristy areas where they hassle you. I really like the people but in Marmaris they don't half get annoying.

I did my OW course with the European Dive Centre who were based in Ichmeler, little bit down the coast from Marmaris and a much nicer place. We stayed in Turunc (pronounced Turunch) which is a small and quiet town, just what we wanted at the time. Turunc is just down the coast from Ichmeler Gareth
