Thomsonfly Baggage Allowance

Hello All

Am off to Marsa Alam next month. As mentioned in a previous thread about torches, we were told we have an allowance of 20kg max hold + 5kg Hand luggage ( 25kilo overall ). I have also read that Thomsonfly are not exactly lax in applying the limits.

However, one of guys I am flying with found a note on the Thomson website that if you show a divers cert card we get an additional 5kg free.

This is stated here:
http://www.thomson.co.uk/editorial/faqs/flights/luggage.html

This is great BUT I have some nagging doubts. That website says to get the latest baggage information from Thomsonfly webite ( instead of Thomson ) and this does not mention Scuba allowance. Our tour operator was also useless and admitted they couldnt understand Thomsonfly's website

Has anyone flown recently with Thomsonfly who can confirm the correct allowances? We have asked Thomsonfly to confirm in writing whether we get the extra 5kg but not holding my breathe!

I flew with them in June and all you have to do is flash a cert card to get the extra allowance.

I was on a family hil so I took 3 cards and said that my family were divers and they were too dull to check the cards so we had no weight problems.

Same comming home.

The only problem was that they made all the Thompson people queue in the same line for all the flights so the queue was right around Heathrow.

Bunch of twats.

Thanks G.

So to confirm.... C card means you get 25 kilo + 5 kilos hand luggage? ( instead of 20 kilo + 5 kilo hand luggage )?

Dave

Some of us are flying out to Sharm el Sheikh tomorrow with Thomsonfly.

We were told we had the extra 5kg on production of a diving certification (by Explorers). However, as you mentioned, nowhere was this written down.

Forseeing problems at the baggage check-in, we eventually, after a lot of persuading, got someone from Explorers to send us an email stating that we could have an extra 5 kg on production of a diving cert.

Will let you know next Thurs. how we got on !

Thanks Steve

Have a great time in Sharm. Wouldn't life be easy if they could all just be clear and write the bloody limits down!

Here you go dude,

Can I take oversized or bulky sports equipment, such as a surf board, bicycle, golf clubs or skis, on the flight?

You can take oversized or sports equipment on the flight, providing you contact us on on 0870 607 6757 (Thomson holidays) or 0870 1900 737 for Thomsonfly, and pre-book the carriage of these items. Space in our aircraft is limited, so if you do not pre-book carriage, we may refuse carriage of these items. Prices for sports equipment start from £15 per flight, but may vary depending on route. Please note that ski carriage will only include 1 pair of boots, 1 set of skis and 1 set of poles. Scuba diving equipment must be pre-booked. If you are in possession of a scuba diving qualification, please produce your certificate at check-in to receive 5kg free of charge.

Cheers Loctite.

That bit was on the Thomson website from the original link. It says you must pre book but if you call them they say no need ( e.g. they don't put it in writing ). That was just making me a bit nervy.... but it sounds like it is OK to just provide your cert at check in.

Thanks for all the help so far

The last line states

If you are in possession of a scuba diving qualification, please produce your certificate at check-in to receive 5kg free of charge.

Print off the page, I bet you don't use it
