I know it's a few years back, but when we went to Manado we flew Singapore and we had a lot more than 20kg not a problem from Manchester although we were charged some excess when we connected with Silk. The check in lady was very nice we had a bit of a laugh and she only charged us a fraction of what we were overweight - it was also Christmas day so that might have been the reason. I also flew to Oz with Singapore and had two bags with a total weight of more than 20kg. Obviously no bag can be more than 32kg. Maybe I am just lucky, so if you take my advice and get charged it isn't my fault ![]()

That's the problem - the flight to Manado. I think we'll stick to under 20kg - at least I know we can do it. After all, when there's just the beach and the jungle, you don't need many clothes. Perhaps just a figleaf or three ![]()

We were also both using the first big ND rollerbags which were heavy to start with, dive kit was lighter than it is today but we still had a lot of stuff and we were having about 5 days in Singapore on the way back.

Went with Singapore Air a few weeks back en route to Truk. Standard allowance is 20 kgs per person with an additional 10 kgs per person for dive kit. I would be inclined to make sure it is noted on your booking record to save any surprises at check-in HTH Graham .

I keep thinking about the poor guys who carried our cases from the village through the jungle for 15 minutes to the beach huts. Perhaps I'll keep it light.

Don't be worried about them, they are very strong. I remember going to the Maldives and the guys were carrying bags on their heads. Just drop them a nice little tip and apologies
