going to the oman?

Hi there everyone my wife works in the travel industry and there is a website called touchdown its basically a very discounted travel company for people that work in the industry.
down to the point they is some really cheap deals on going to the oman so i have one or two questions if any one could help who as been.

1/ how is the diving out there and are they any good wrecks
2/ what is the temprature going to be like in about three weeks time
3/ what is the cuisine
4/ how expensive are things to buy food drinks trips etc etc.

We went there in Jan 2005, really really enjoyed it. definitely PM NeilB . He is the fountain of all knowledge out there and a thoroughly decent chap.

Diving is very good, I wrote up our dives on my blog Mark’s Diving Journal

we mainly dived on the daymaniyat islands but there are wrecks around Muscat, specifically an artifical reef sunk a few years ago, Al Munassir I think. Neil can inform you on that. Don't forget to do a search on Oman here on YD, there are a couple of trip reports.

and the number of morays that you can see near Muscat was daft ... we stayed in the Bandar, a fantastic hotel, and used Oman Dive Centre for the diving. They were very good, and mooring up for a brew between dives in quiet little coves was top

NeilB is def someone to ask about the area... Sadly he was away when I was there....

wasnt a cheap trip! (esp the meals/drinks) but would go back again as I really enjoyed it

I am sure that Neil B is the expert. I have been twice to mainland Oman and once to the Mussandam (though no diving in the Mussandam). I really liked Oman. The first time we stayed at Al Sawadi Beach Resort and dived with Daymaniyat Divers. The diving was really good, warm, good visibility and plenty of marine life. It wasn't by any means the most challenging diving that I have done but really enjoyed it.

The second time stayed in central Muscat in an OK hotel and dived with the Oman Dive Centre who were good too.

Would really like to do a liveaboard out of Mussandam which am thinking about doing maybe next year.

The food is generally mixed. We mostly ate in hotels etc and so there is a variety. There is a big Indian community so lots of good Indian food. Temperature is warm to hot, hot hot.
