Can anyone recommend a dive operation close to Porto. I heard that there is a U-Boat in 31m that can be dived. The U1277 I think. Does anyone have any experience.

The place you want is www.mergulhomania.com . I've used them a couple of times and are simply the best dive operators in that area. They know the Uboat like noone else.
I've done the Uboat a couple of times, both times I hit it with my head and still didn't see it! That is my bad luck though. I was going to go tommorrow morning but still trying out my new drysuit so doing a shallower dive off Vigo bay instead.
The uboat and for that matter all dives off Porto are open ocean so if conditions are not right there is no diving. If that is the case you can head 120km north and dive off the bays in Galicia which are sheltered, such as Vigo Bay, El Grove and the coast of death. if interested I can give you the local dive operators up there.

You don't see much use of twins out here, but Mergulho Mania (The center I mentioned earlier) are the most tech I've seen in the country. If anyone can they can. Most people I've seen on that that dive as a 12l (!). I personally use a 15l. Again v. few use ponies.
The center has Nitrox BTW.

I get you a listed of my personal reccomendations of dive centers of Northern Portugal & Galicia. At the moment need to get back to work.

Yesterday did a 36m dive to the Achonda wreck off Vigo Bay. I often go there and well worth it if coming to this neck of the woods for a dive.
