NOT Tony Backhurst

Evening all,

My buddy and I are looking to do a Southern Red Sea liveaboard in June (needs to be mid week departure).

After the fiasco of our last trip with TB we are keen to go with a different company - preferably one which wont leave us bobbing around at sea for a few hours!

Anyone got any recommendations apart from Blue o Two (no availability for the dates we want)

Thanks

My wife and i enjoyed a very good trip to South and St John's on Emperor Serenity - see my trip report in the articles for some more info.

Worried by your comment about TB - we have booked a week on hurricane in Apr - what happened?

I'm sure you'll be fine - think it was just a one off problem with the crew, who were abysmal.

I wrote the experience up under the title "Lost in the red sea" on the I learned about diving from that forum if you really want to know the details!

In the interests of fair play, I feel duty bound to point out that Tony Backhurst Scuba Travel is a holiday operator that sells the products of the likes of Tornado Marine fleet and Sea Serpent fleet; neither does Tony pilot the plane that takes you from the UK to Egypt. As the seller of the holiday package TBST is the place to complain to if you are not delivered the product you are paid for but TBST staff do not crew or operate the boats.

But surely by selling them they are sanctioning them?

Danny

Yes it was Bella! Have replied to your PM.

Anyway, the point of the thread was not really why I don't want to use TB again(although I think the reasons are quite clear!) but to find some alternative recommendations!

In the Red Sea,
I would truly and from my heart recomend 2 operations which are Blue O Two which is owned by some young and enthusiastic Britts who LOVE diving and everything involved in it. They build their boats with passion and have dive guides that treat you like royalty (as do the rest of the crew).
Saftery is excellent.

The second is Red Sea Explorers which is also run by young and enthusiastic people who LOVE dive and everything involved with it. But have more really to do with the technical side of diving.
