| There're some direct flights, as far as I know. Try Egypt Air EgyptAir They have an online reservation applet on their web site.

| Did Hurghada to Luxor by coach--------convoy in the late 90s. Convoy master got very twitchy marshalling the coaches for the return leg!! No armed guards were needed in the Maldives this year. Good luck. |

| There's a ferry from Sharm to Hurghada, then take a coach to Luxor. However I would guess that it's quicker and easier to fly, even if it means going via Cairo. It's probably cheaper to fly as well, we flew from Sharm to Cairo last November for LE31 (£15) return each, internal flights are very cheap.

| Sharm/Luxor Most of the big hotels/tour operators offer this trip. It's by air (direct to/from Sharm/Luxor) and you can either rise at sparrow's fart and get back (very late) the same day, or stay overnight. I can't recall the prices I'm afraid, except don't expect a "bargain" in the conventional sense. The day trip option is a bit of a "been there, ticked that" option because they try to pack in Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Karnak, Egyptian Museum plus the usual lunch/carpet making (no obligation to buy of course) session etc. Depends on whether you prefer to take more time, or if paying for 2 hotels at the same time and using only one makes you grumpy. If you know which hotel you're staying at, you can telephone reception and do a bit of forward planning from there, or telephone Thomas Cook etc. I haven't done it myself - I did the scary day return convoy coach trip from Hurghada through the mountain passes with the armed guard option - but I looked at doing it a couple of times and thought the pool looked just too tempting. |
