Yep Marsa Alam is great for boarding a liveaboard and never seening it again until you come back

Loved it! Stayed at the Karamana (or something like that). No shops hassling you etc unlike Sharm.

Marsa is great. I would recommend Emperor Divers at the Coral hotel.

marsa shagra fantastic house reef, daytrips and is such a cute place. it is just perfect. I have paid loads more for holidays and gone all over the place but I can honestly say Marsa Shagra was a favourite, we had a fantastic week in August. We liked it so much we are going to buy a place out there for our later years.

Stayed here after my liveaboard... large rooms, good quality hotel (nice to be able to sip your drink whilst sitting on tables and chairs in the pool. (Service was very slow, mind, but it may have improved)
Emperor Divers had just moved here, so can't comment on them, apart from saying that the guests who had dived with them had nothing but praise.

There wasn't much else to do when I was there (apart from dive, eat, drink) , but that was a couple of years ago, so things may well have changed abit.. but not too much I hope.
