I went to Reethi Beach last June, we had 4 or 5 thunderstorms which lasted about 30 mins to 1 hour in the 2 weeks I stoped there. In between the storms the weather was HOT and Sunny.

We saw Mantas on a number of dives, aparently they were just coming back into the season.

The food was all served on a Buffet Style, with a hot food station cooking something fresh every meal time, usually themed every day - Italian, Maldivian, Oriental etc. These were of a very good standard

There were also 2 A'la carte places where the food was excellent - The Steaks I had from the Grill were probably some of the best I have ever eaten

When snorkeling on the house reefs there were loads of reef fish, ocationally turtles and rays and some good corals,

Marc

I have a friend working out in the Maldives at the moment as Marine Education Officer or something similar at a very posh resort (I think they are all posh resorts in the Maldives!)

I've bounced your questions on to her and as soon as the replies come back I'll post em up. She's been there for a year now (lucky cow) so should have a very good idea of what it's like!

Cheers
Dave

Maldives Weather - Information on the summer & winter climate in Maldives

Maldives weather
Located north of the equator in the Indian Ocean, the island nation of the Maldives enjoys a hot tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine and high humidity. The average temperature is around 28C, with the heat staying fairly constant throughout the year. The best time to visit the Maldives is between November and April, when the weather is dry and sunny, and the region receives up to 10 hours of sunshine per day.
Weather in the Maldives - Best time to visit from November to April
Two monsoon systems dominate the weather pattern of the Maldives, and bring both a rainy and dry season each year. The northeast monsoon occurs from November to April, creating the dry season, and calm sunny days. This is the busy tourist season, with visitors enjoying temperatures that range from 25C - 29C, and gentle coastal breezes that help to temper the humidity. March and April are the hottest months, when temperatures can reach up to 32C. November and April are the recommended months for divers, with the best underwater clarity and vision.
Maldives weather - Rainy season running from May to October
The southwest monsoon brings the rainy season, and typically runs from May to October. During this time the Maldives see strong winds, torrential rain and rough seas, with conditions peaking between June and September. Throughout the rainy season, however, there are still plenty of sunny days and the temperatures remain high, rarely dropping below 25C. The Maldives see very little variation in temperatures and length of days even as the seasons change, with the major factor being the increase in rainfall. Rain can fall any time during the year, however showers in the tourist season usually being short-lived.

It'll be horrible. There will be nothing to see and the food will be horrid. Really. You won't want to go.

Hi,

Me and my wife (littlemermaid) had our Honeymoon in the Maldives in June (Baros). It was perfect weather, interrupted with maybe half a dozen thunder storms, lasting 30mins - 60mins each.

Well worth going off-season, it was very quite.

As for food, I think that'll really depend on which island you go to, they vary a lot (the weather is the same though regardless of price paid )

Whale shark picture looks not far from a head on in its face shot----did you spook it so it cleared off, or was enough distance given to the shark?

Cheers, Malcolm.

I snorkled with three of them last October, and no matter what way I swam I seemed to be in front of one of them. These animals are 50+ feet long. They don't spook easily. When they're feeding, they either don't notice people in the water or don't care.
