| Diving Turkey help please.... Hello! I’m off to Olu deniz, Turkey in a couple of week. Can any one recommend a dive centre to dive with? I would also like to know what equipment you would take with you and what you would hire off them to save on weight. This will be the first time I have dived abroad so what proof of certification will they expect? I’m a newly qualified sports diver. Thanks in advance for your help!! |

| Hi, I used the European dive center, European Diving Centre – Red Sea Turkey Spain UK they have three boats that cater for all levels of diving. I would take my regs and computor, anything else you can carry will save you hire charges. you will need your log book and cert card with you as well. The parasending in Olu deniz is fantastic as well, I used sky sports for that and they were very good, just make sure you have off gassed before you go up if you've done a lot of diving. Regards, John

| Last I heard my mate Turgay was diving with EDC out of Fethiye. He's a UK trained Instructor. I dived with a now defunct outfit in Olu Deniz in 2004 and if I went again I'd go with EDC as I think they have a better reputation. The outfit I went with were a bit sloppy. I went in June and the water was 17/18 degrees, so I would make sure you can hire at least a 5mm. I'd take a hood and gloves with you as well. When I go abroad I like to take all my own kit if I am going to be doing a lot of diving - I'm familiar with it and trust it. However, last year in Spain I just took my 5mm suit and boots, my Fourth Element Thermocline vest and shorts, my mask and my pooter as I was only planning on doing a days diving. Like others have said, take your cert cards and log book. Hope you have a great time! I did a microlight flight there and it was fab. There is also a lovely Turkish restaurant right at the end of the promenade on the sea-front in Olu-Deniz. It has an upstairs terrace. Delicious cheap food - I'd recommend a visit if it is still there. I'd also recommend an island cruise. We went with Carole and Tayfun. We booked a few cruises and also got a free trip to Gocek where I found an amazing jewellers called Baget. The jewellery items I bought there were valued at two to three times the price when I got back home. Have fun - and say hello to Turgay from me if you see him.

| Wot everyone else said, EDC are a good outfit and cater for divers of all experience, if you're staying in Olu Deniz they will pick you up and drop you back after the divings done for the day. Reminded me of one of my first descents into the blue just out of Fethiye, we were surrounded by schooling barracuda absolutely great diving. Doug |

| I have been hearing good things about EDC, off to Olu Deniz for the 1st time in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the tips on kit to take. What kind of dive sites can I expect while over there depths, wrecks etc. Do they do Nitrox? Cheers, Jamie |

Safe diving, Steve P.S. another vote for the EDC, a very professional setup IME.
