Hi Helen,

yes, I though you were also on the same trip. We have always gone to the norther end of the red sea for all the wrecks so it'sa bit of a change.

Only 3 more days at work I cannot wait.. As warm as it has been inthe North West 38c in Marsa is even better.

See you next week.

Heather

My club is going on the simply the best tour on Hurricane. Monarch Airlines have told us that if you show your divers cert at check in they allow an extra 5KG on your hold baggage.

Hi CRF45,

Thanks for the heads up. We have booked the trip with Tony Backhurst and the flights are with Thomas Cook but they have either code sharing or contracted the flight to Monarch so our contract is with Thomas Cook. I think if they knew about any allowance they would have told us.

We enquired about the luggage allowance after it was all booked and paid for and were informed that they had bought an additional 5kg to take us to 20kg and it has been pointed out that you also get 5kg hand luggage so you really have 25kg.

We will be ok (I think) day time temperatures are around 30 so you don't need much gear and the dive kit for 2 comes in at 21 to 22kg no heavy back plates and the regs and torches go in hand luggage. To date I have never had my hand luggage weighed.

If you are in the same situation you can ditch all the sun cream etc, and buy this in duty free so does not count in the weigh in.

Our bigger problem will be the 24,000 Manchester United supporters going out of the same terminal around the same time as us; this is causing much hilarity with my work colleagues.
