Spain recommendations?

Hi all,

I'm off to Madrid next week with work and appear to have the weekend free.... Now i know that madrid is a long way from the sea... but Valencia is only 3hrs by train...

Does anyone know of any good dive operators in that area? Or any other recommendations? Inland sites (with some interest) or anything else...

Ideas please!!!

Rich

Hi Rich

Valencia isnt really my patch, there are a few dive centres if you type " Buceo Valencia" into Google youll get a ton of answers.
I´ve just had a quick look a few run trips to Benidorm, well there is the island and not much else worth diving and its a fair way from Valencia.

Try and get to the ISLAS COLUMBRETES they are quite good, having said that its a good 5 years since I've been Salidas Bagua

Try and stay away from the Ebro delta nil viz !

If you fancy comming over to the Atlantic we are in Galicia and can sort dives out for you. There is pleanty to dive and rearlly get blow out. We also run trips to the deep wreck of Finesterre. We are hoping to get our new website up and working by next week.

Also there are a few lads that travel down to stay with us from Madrid so suggest that you e-mail me from Madrid and see if car shareing is an option.

Another option is that a new fast train the "AVE" has just last week been inorgurated and this will give you fast access to the coast.

If you need any help PM me

Cheers

Chris

I live relatively near Pontevedra, just 10km from Tui. I normally dive with Buceo Islas Cies off Vigo and the Achondo is my local wreck. Did Finisterre last Autumn, really good and will look into going back. The wreck there is quite deep isn't?

Must meet up for a 'pulpo' and cold beer.

Hi

I normally dive with the Vigo FEDAS club based in Bouzas (I'm an instructor there) or Cies Sub if in Vigo.
Not managed the Achondo yet the day we were going to dive there was far to much traffic !!

Have you dived the Ivy?

Finnesterre wrecks start at about 5msw, we did the Cason a couple of weeks ago and managed 9msw 20m+++viz there are a few around the Loubeiras islands (well more lumps of rock) at 40msw ish and the Blas de Lezo at 70msw only recently found as you are probably aware.

Yehh could meet up for Chrizo and a beer !!

Chris

Don't think Valencia itself is that great on the diving front. There are places in Javea, Calpe or Moraira that are reasonable but don't think the train goes there. Course you could hire a car when you get off the train. Without a car, I think it'll be hard work.

You can get to Calpe, Javea and Gandia by local narrow guage from Alicante

Did you manage any diving? It's a long way to the Costas from Madrid. But FULL MARKS for trying!

Getting there!

Took the fast (very) train from Madrid to Malaga this afternoon (a whopping 150EU but only 2 1/2 hrs).

Planning to dive with Simply Diving tomorrow and Sun - will report back!

Rich

PS weather lovely... beer cold... paella waiting....
