Question Shore Diving Abroad

Here's an interesting one for the YD collective.

Got a dive buddy, convinced he has no sea legs (each time on a boat, he's been feeding the fish). Yeah yeah I know, give him meds, get him on a liveaboard and see what happens, maybe a day will pass and he'll be fine, but he's not buying any of it...........

Here's my problem (assuming liveaboards are out, need a good shore dive resort anywhere in the world).....

We've already been to the deep south Red Sea in Marsa Alam with Oonas Divers, unlimited shore diving do what you like for a week, so that is the type of place.

He got a pass for a week this year (I'm single, no pass required ), my task is to just book a dive holiday somewhere and we're there. Money not too much of an issue but we'll say typical weeks liveaboard cost else his missus'll castrate him

What do you recommend?

Bonaire is supposed to be good. Unlimited diving and sites all over the island. Don't know the cost though.

Gozo - that's mostly shore diving. And not too expensive.

Malta/Gozo for europe comes to mind.

A lot of other countries wont allow unaccompanied/unguided diving and so on as well.

Well we are predominently shore diving as we have dropoffs just about
everywhere very close to shore.

Like others havs said though, we are like the majority, guided dives.
Other advantage is that we run all year round, unlike the med.

Not quite what you are after, but half-way there.

Gozo and Malta - of course the diving on Gozo is far better

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Dahab, that's mostly shore diving too isn't it?

I would second Bonairre, i learnt to dive out there and the shore diving was just as good as the boat diving and there was loads of it. There are two sides to the island, one being sheltered from the atlantic, some current but mainly constant drift dive type current and depths of up to 30m and the otherside out to the atlantic for more experienced divers, more current but deeper sights and more to wrecks and life. Had a great time and when I can afford it I would deffinetly go back.

Thanx for all the suggestions, forgot to mention, it'll be late on in the year when we go, probably end of October.

Will be looking into some of those recommendations for sure
