    Malta for Christmas

    Hi guys,

I am visiting family in Malta over Christmas and having learnt to dive in the last year I intend to take full advantage.

I will mainly be on Malta itself. Sliema area most of the time but able to get around. Planning a few days in Gozo as well.

I am after any ideas for dive operators to dive with. I will be diving on my own so I will need a guide.

I am guessing it will be drysuit territory during dec and jan.

    Thanks.

    mala,

thanks for that - thinking about using St Andrews Divers Cove in Xlendi when I am in Gozo as it is right on the bay... has anyone used them before?

As for the rest of the time, as I say I will have a car so can travel to wherever on Malta, although northern part of the island would be better - any advice on good operators welcome.

Probably want to dive within the BSAC community if possible, but not essential at all.

    Regards to all,

ScubaSue (of this parish ) might be able to help Welcome to the Utina PADI Authorised Diving College Xlendi, Gozo

We had a good time with Dive Systems - Welcome - and they're a BSAC school too if that matters. (and pretty central in Sliema)

    Thanks for that Charles

Sonic, we take a well deserved break for two months and close down over the winter, but St Andrews will be open I'm sure - not sure how many guides/instructors they will have during the time you are there, but they will be operating.

SADC used to have BSAC instructors during the summer (they are a BSAC centre I think), but I'm not sure if any will be around at the time you are there.

Let me know when you are here, and I'll join you in Ta Nona for a

chas & scubasue - thanks very much for the advice....

Really looking forward to getting in the water.

Whats the deal on dive medicals for Malta - I have a UK Sport Diver medical certificate that was dated Apr 08 and valid for 5 years - is that sufficient or will I need to see a Maltese doctor??

first time I dived in Malta they wanted a dive doc ticket, last time I went they had gone self cert.

I've dived with Abyss divers who were based at the Doleman Hotel, Qwara and also Strand Diving who were just around the corner in St Pauls . Both were great and I woud happily dive with either again.

Medicals ceased to be a requirement a few years ago, but bring your copy with you and I'm sure that will be fine, of course you will still have to fill in the normal paperwork

Appendages crossed for fine weather for you
