| Take a look at thr Mauritius Underwater Group (MUG) web site. http://pages.intnet.mu/mug/index.html If you can get permission to dive it the wreck of the HMS Sirrius (sunk during the Napoleonic Wars) is well worth a visit. There are also a number of artificial reefs (mainly Japanese Fishing Boats) arround the island.

| Just returned from Mauritius, Mmmm I have put a basic report on trip reports, It is Ok but the VIz was not great, the guides love to play with the marine life which has changed habits beyond recognition, and they love to stand on rest on the corals and allow others to do so. The corals were fine in places but also badly bleached in others. If we had not dived elsewhere in the world would have no doubt thought it was great. A fellow traveller is putting a full report on the BSAC tarvel club page so look out for it in the next few days. |

| I took my first venture into diving in Mauritius. I stayed at Sugar Beach in Flic en Flac. I don't know what they had in terms of wrecks but the dives were like being in an aquarium with the amount of fish. I do have to echo tugboats comments regarding lack of respect to coral though. Viz can be great or very poor....a lot is dependant on what part of the island you dive and whether they've been burning the sugar plantations! |

| Sorry for the delay in responding Roger, loads to see Coral very mixed. The two wrecks we did were the Stella Maru and the Starhope both decent wrecks with plenty of life on them. We used Pro-divers at the Casuarina Hotel who were fine, be very careful they had a decent sized boat most operate from dodgy ribs. Check out Brian Rayners report on BSAC travel trip reports he has put all the links on this and the Pro-dive website will give you info on all the dive sites. Have a great time, we certainly did! |
