Wey Chieftain sidescan sonar demonstration and explanation for the wreck hunter

Wey Chieftain of Weymouth has a double life. When not diving in the English Channel she is engaged in surveying and trials work. Onboard her systems include a C-Max sidescan sonar and an Ultra Widescan syetem linked to Geodas a state of the art acquisition and seabed mapping package. I have been asked many times to demonstrate but with divers and all their equipment onboard things are a little cramped. Therfore I am considering running a few trips to demonstrate the equipment, what it can and can't do and give the budding expedition leader or wreck hunter an insight in to what is possible. We will collect images from local wrecks and areas of the seabed with interesting geological features. Myself and Jerry James who has years of experience with many types of sonar and wreck hunting will be on hand to answer your questions and give advice. I have no idea what the interest level will be and depending on your response I will tailor the demos accordingly with may be some onshore hands on work at our workshop. Over to you guys any interest? PM or contact Grahame on 07966 242460 or through the website at weymouth diving
