Let's be honest, the UK being, as she is, an island, and there being in excess of 100,000 wrecks (dating from pre-Roman times to the single-skinned mince that went down last weeks) surrounding her coastlines (we won't talk here about the Podsnap or the Stanegarth et al), it is simply inexcusable that we haven't picked either an equi-distant (travelwise) wreck dive site or a wreck just so worth doing that we can't all decide on a date, assemble, hop on a fleet of boats and get in amongst it. Ranges various and to suit.

Now I know some of us have training commitments, family, money and a whole host of other issues standing in the way of us getting together, but seeing as we've acquired over 200 new members since May 2002, then I reckon it's time that we had a proper group meet for a wreck (and if we must a scenic) dive.

What I'll need from you all is a suggestion of preferred months and dates when you'll be free and willing (all the above committments taken into consideration) to travel and form a proper Troop Gig - a la previous group tours to Hodge Close, Wastwater and St Abbs - and get together for a choice of wreck diving.

Please remember that this will probably require two days of your time (whether you stay the night or go home and come back again is your call) as we need to spend at least one night on the sherry having large doses of banter and chewing the fat. Partners are welcome.

What say you chaps/chapesses? The floor is yours. Come on, let's get it together and have a ball. For all those that won't/can't make it to some of the more global/exotic dive sites, this is a golden opp to have a laff with the troop you love.

Looking forward to it guys.

Well, I'm all up for it, but equidistant will be a tricky one I would've thought.  I guess you are looking at North Wales (as already suggested), or North Norfolk/Lincolnshire way, and I don't know what there is there.....maybe someone here does?

Dates-wise, pretty much free with enough notice apart for the next couple of weeks.  So Feb and onwards....maybe wait for some spring weather to lessen the chances of a wash/blow out?

Oh goody, me want to play.

Can't do Jan as already taken, free from around the 8th Feb.
I need a couple of weeks warning to sort out where the boy will go and persuade Lizzy that it is a good idea but aside from that any time any place.

A very eager

Andrew

p.s. What about the Moldovia (I think thats how you spell it) that Mark Chase did recently, it sounded fantastic

Yup, sign me up.  I'm good from Feb onwards. The Mol is a *great* dive but bear in mind both I and Mark have had a good few dives on her blown out when the weather's suddenly thrown a strop.  Which can be a bit of a bast if 12 mad-for-it divers have made a long trip to get there.
Anyone know of decent wreck sites with predictable weather?  Cos then I'll bloody move there.

Variable availability on the Drifty - more of a case of "you sort it and I'll try and be there"

FW's got a few entertaining wrecks for a weekend....

Whoa Peter!

What's wrong? Things here are a shite to organise and I'm sure everyone appreciates your efforts. Gav and Fi will be back in 2 weeks and may be interested. I can't confirm right now.

Divers are notoriously badly organised and the Yorkie brigade will have a fair trek.....

How many you got / need now?

Sorry Drifty mate,

Doesn't work like that - we book the boats and sites when we've got deffo numbers.

That's why I asked for dates (mid-late-Feb and March seems to be good for those that have answered) as well as recommendations for wrecks!

Anyone expecting a 'you book it and I'll turn up' gig is gonna be disappointed. Preferred dates and preferred wrecks people - Pete K's wandered in with one off the bat. Shall we take that as our 1st station??

Names for this gig please?? Failing that, I shall post a wreck and date that I know will get traction and sorry to the ones that can't attend.
