| Imported post Guys Me and Andy exchanged some e-mails last night and we are looking at putting a gig together. The problem is that we need to cater for our club members as the priority (they are their boats after all). But we usually have plenty of space (i just take more boats). This site is a long haul though from Dover, Andy's boat does about 11 knots, i am looking into launching closer to Dungeness possibly. Aug bank hol is an option, i am running a 10 Wrecks in 10 Days challenge for my club that week, and i am hopeing to do 10 wrecks that are new to our club. We will publish a plan in due course, in the meantime you are all welcome to come out with Canterbury Divers, we go out of Dover every Sat and Sun. Its Ribs and Wrecks no lifts or ego's. Dive time HW Dover plus 4 hours, meeting about 2 hours before that at the public slip. On Neaps we do a 2 Hours before HW slack as well. This weekend Sat probably the St Cecelia, large freighter standing very proud in 30m. Sun probably HMS Saxon Prince, Armed trawler near the South Goodwins. Dive safe Paul

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Matt, There are a few "submarine" dives (yes, I know, all dives in the sea are "sub-marine"...) that I'd be interested in as well. (Well, once I've got a bit more sea and deep experience in!) They include the M2 and HMS Sidon off Portland. I'll have a chat with my mates in Camberley, and see if they are planning on diving either of these in the nearish future... Regards abucksdiver |

| Imported post Hi all, I have some excellent info from Michael,to which our club DO has set tasks for some of our inexperienced members to ponder upon until the dive. Although we have a busy dive weekend for the bank holiday, it looks like most our our divers will want to stay ashore and do the family thing.......that means THERE will be places onborad our boat, i'll let you all know nearer the time maybe this coming tuesday evening i'll be able to give exact number we can take from any YD member that want to come along...... if we get fully booked , perhaps some can join up with Paul. We are out to get answers for Micheal and Ron ..... but having a great dive and getting may divers get together. Andy

| Imported post Ah ferchissakes - I'm at Porthkerris that weekend. If you have any other dates come up I'd love a bash. Bearing in mind I'm coming out of Hastings, weekday evenings aren't impossible either. |

| Imported post awwwwwww never mind Rob, i'm hoping that Ron & Micheal will come up trumps and have us out helping in thier research on other subs. After tonights cancelled dive, strong winds here, i'm hoping bank holiday will be fine weather. Be sat on the back of me boat, supping me 1/2 lager shandy ( as southerners do ) with handful of of bacon sarnie in fist with grease dripping down me fore arm Andy. ermmmm i wonder if any northerners will be onboard,,,, pie & mash with pint of stout, flat cap donned stroking the head of the whippet .

| Imported post Guys, There might be a few other possibilities in the future, though they're closer to the French coast. We have four specific sites that could use looking at -- two maybe six miles out of Calais, another pair at about 51 09N, 01 43E. It's possible that these could each be a sub wreck -- the locations come from either Innes McCartney's book or the French SHOM hydrographic database. If anybody's up for those locales, let me know -- some are I believe in the shipping lanes. And Rob, we're also researching the possible discovery of an U-boat wreck in Rye Bay by the RN in 1917. We don't a specific location on it yet though. I can also say that there probably aren't any wrecks left to be found between Folkestone and Griz Nez from the big minefield laid from November 1917 on. The U-boats listed as missing and routed through Dover in 1918 are turning up -- as mining victims off Belgium. Best wishes, Michael |
