And for gods sake don't let that "moon walking" cretin we met at SCAPA anywhere near her, I shudder to think how much damage his depth charge decent and subsequent boogie would cause!

LOL
I thought he was a free diver on one of those depth record sleds going down!

I think he was having a loose weight belt moment so hung onto that and used the wreck to break his fall and then sorted out his belt.

after his antics on the wreck you could see a diver shape in the marine encrustation, just like those kiddies did in the snow on that BBC One Christmas promo.

Time out for Thistlegorm

It's about time they got around to doing something about the moorings on some of the wrecks.

Copy of email recieved from emperor divers

Dear John,

Thank you for your email.

I am afraid it is also true that it would appear that there is to be a temporary closure of the wreck in late November, early December, in order to place permanent moorings which will hopefully protect the structure of the wreck, however, at this stage nothing is set in stone, and in Egypt things can change with a moments notice, but when we do have definite dates we will be emailing all our confirmed guests to warn them of this if they will be visiting when the wreck is not available.

feakesp saw the sea in a book once
The measures suggested are fine for liveaboards but I have never seen a day-boat with a Zodiac on board, so I'm not sure how would drop their divers onto the descent buoys - the thought of day-boats all trying to back-up to the buoys to drop divers paints an interesting picture !

Well of course if somewhere is quite spectacular it is going to have its busy days. But does that really mean that it should be avoided? What a shame to miss out on something jaw-dropping, just because there is a chance that there might be others there too.
As many have mentioned, this can be avoided by a clever dive guide's planning. And even if there are many other divers on the wreck, there can be no denying, it is a fantastic experience and is not to be missed if you do come to Sharm or even Hurghada.
As a guide working here in Sharm I can only praise the Hepca authorities for improving the safety of this site. Ok it might remove some of the "charm" or adventure, however as one who has to jump in and tie the lines, I can only feel that this is a move in the right direction. Most of the worst near death type of dive guide stories of this town are about line tying on the Thistle.
