MINTO, William Fireman MMR HMS Duke of Albany 7.8.15
as you can see from the date this crew member died proir to the sinking in 1916.

Many of the crewmen died when the Duke of Albany's own depth charges went off as the stern sank. It was noted by the U boat that they heard a much bigger, louder explosion a short while (2 min) after the torpedo had hit. They put it down to either the ships boilers exploding on munitions on board going off.
After the inquest it was made standard practise to make safe the depth charges if the ship is likely to sink. This new rule is known to have saved many lives on later losses

Added to the list should be

Couch, Charles Henry No 115631 Petty Officer 1st class who along with

Phillips, Edward, Fireman MMR

Smith, Edward MNR greaser are buried at Lyness Hoy
