Talking Thistlegorm TV documentary

Now I understand that not long after the Thistlemorm was descovered a TV documentry was made about it with quite abit of under water footage.

Has anyone got a copy of this program or know where I can watch it?

I understand that J Cousto included it descovery in one of his films but despite have his boxed set of DVDs I have not found that either.

Any help please.

Have you got the right box set... it was discovered during his Silent World series in 1956.... I haven't seen it myself...

R/Ferret, the thistlegorm is definately on one of the 'boxed' DVD's. A good mate has lent them to me before.

If you really need to find it then I'll have word and track down the exact disc and let you know.

The scenes where they are dynamiting the reef 'to see what happens' is quite disturbing, also the part where reef sharks are fished out of the water, then beaten with axes and clubs. All because they were feeding on a dying wale!!

Nothing like educating the masses.........

The BBC did an excellent 30 min documentary on Thistlegorm, including some moving interviews with members of her crew at the time of her sinking. I remember one old gentleman breaking down at the thought of his lost mates aboard, and some fantastic u/w video of the wreck.

I had/have a copy on VHS, but since we moved house I've never found it - maybe the Beeb could help?

A bit off topic - but made me laugh when searching for J/C on Youtube!!

The commentary is so much like the original Silent World.

Cousteau Thistlegorm DVD

I've got this DVD is any of you are interested in it. I think it might be English with Dutch sub-titles. Shows Cousteau's first dives on the wreck. Superb bit where a diver swims up to the bell and scrapes a coral off with his knife revealing the name. No doubt sent to the surface shortly afterwards. Send me a PM if interested £10 to include postage.

Cheers
