Diving the Mollusc - Blyth

Last year whilst diving the mollusc i came across a decorative tile with the name 'Minton' and 'stoke' on the back. Doing some searching it appears that Minton was a big name in stoke years back. Anyone else found any tiles whilst rummaging on the wreck?

Mollusc was built as a super luxury yacht and launched as the MEDUA for the Rt. Hon. Colonel J. Gretton CBE MP of Stapleford Park, Melton Mowbray, Leicester and was later owned by the famous Guinness family, before being requisitioned by the Admiralty. Most of the fittings were of copper, bronze or brass, so its not surprising to find expensive tiles on her Sadly there is not a lot left these days, except a nice rummage. 20 years ago she was almost complete, but the wreckers got at her.

Cheers Ron

Most of the wrecking was done by The Bucket Grab dredger Cresswell sold from Blyth harbour to a private concern who went around all the inshore wrecks and blitzed them for scrap.last I heard it had gone round to the west coast

Heres a pic of the Cresswell 1960
