at the risk of being a bit controversial....

I am a bit perplexed by the lack of replies to what I think is a great thread from Steve (green should have already landed). I love the talk on here about diving and what folk are diving (as opposed to yet another thread about torch envy..... )

I consider myself reasonably experienced and have dived all over the UK, yet there are a number of wrecks mentioned I have never heard off. The great thing about that is it makes me want to find out more about them and dive them. So come on folks, give me more food for thought; it doesnt matter they are in 10ms and you think everyone dives them. This isnt absout doing the deepest and darkest; it is about sharing your experiences and what turned you on

Oh, the controversial bit; is the lack of response cos we are a group of puddle divers who talk a good talk about diving and are shamed to admit our top 10 list would have to include the Stanedpants; the double decker bus, the helicopter etc etc.....

The Tabarka in Scapa is stunning, best UK wreck dive i've done IMHO.

Maybe it would have helped if I had broken it down to ask for a couple of favourites in various depth ranges.

Or alternatively "which wreck do you want really want to do, but haven't done yet?" (Maybe because you are not quite at that depth range)

From the replies that there have been it is good to see a variety of choices, and not the same ones being trotted out again and again.

Some years ago Diver Mag did a poll of the best wreck in the UK. The winner...Salsette

You're probably right, too many people pay far too much attention to their kit.

For me in no particular order, just good fun or interesting dives. I consider myself to be a third spidger, a third archaeologist and a third naturalist so like different things

Cuvier.... great rummage.
HMS Hermes...... great swim throughs and history.
Sambut..... eerie and impressive.
Bottle barge..... just a hoot to be down first and see all the bottles in crates virtually undisturbed.
Afghanistan...... that bowsprit and masts..... and a puzzle?
2 parts wreck.... only I found the bow section... need to go back!
Sandbank wreck.... weird position and picture on the sounder and it arouses my curiosity.
Mecklenberg..... interesting.
Argonaut.... rummage and the swim through.
Carmen.... upright and impressive.

Who knows what this year will bring?

Thanks for posting the photo - cool shot. Having dived her a few times, I had no idea she was so big (oo-er).
