Is is worth the money.

Nah, I think you should buy the vision electrojnics for the Inspiration and get rid of that tatty old vr3. I'd be happy to take it off your hands

Ha, ha.
Just incase the sarcasm didnt show through on the above post-

The VR3 is a superb tool, and well worth having. In fact, I couldnt see myself without it.
I would not hesitate to reccomend.

One minus you will see is that the VR3 will read slightly differently to the other cells you have for setpoint control. This is because of cell placement.

How it fits to the Inspo, sorry I cant help you there.

The forth cell standard Y piece is horrible. It pushes the hose off to the left at the wrong angle and makes the hose kink before going through the head. The best thing on the market I have seen so far is this:

http://www.divelife.co.uk/Index/essentials/Rebreather/Cell Holder/O2CellHolder.htm

This obviously keeps the hose path true and keeps the 4tl cell in the right place to prevent cell differences.

If not then Uri’s HUD with VR3 forth cell link is excellent this gives you a read on Cell1 via an independently calibrated and powered control unit and also has the benefit of the excellent HUD.

The week point on the forth cell VR3 link is the cable. I have had a few problems with my one but there now sorted and Uri has been very prompt and helpful.

Hi all again

Some very good advice and help.......Thanks

But having looked at the pics and things.......:eek:mg:
 This seems a bit complex,, is all this simple to set up with the HUD as well.
I want to do this but not sure that I can install myself.
At the momment I am away in Iran due back 8/4/05.
Any one diving around N/Wales or close that may have this set up so I can see how this all works and fits together.
Thanks for the advice

Setting up the HUD /VR3 link means drilling a hole in the scrubber head. That’s pretty scary but actually easy. Uri does an installation of the unit (which obviously he charges for) but its pretty simple to install. Whole thing took about 30mins to do.

You take off the removable moulnex connectors that plug into the back of the 02 cells and put them on the end of Uri’s mini loom. Then you use non-crimping connectors (they just screw on) to reconnect the wires to the end of Uri’s loom. Job done.

You need a small watch makers S driver to get the Moulnex connectors off and on and you should mark the wires so you know which one is which but even I could do it and my electronics knowledge ends at wiring a plug.

If going for the 100m rated unit I would tap the Head M16 rather than drill it 16mm dia. This gives a natural double lock on the mounting.

As a FYI to others if you want to attach VR3 2pin interface to 4th cell.

I got hold of a VR3 2 pin lead and beeped it out.
Here are my findings.

Aligned with red spot on outer shell is Pin 1.

Top pin = 1 = Negative connector to the O2 cell (negative)
Bottom pin = 2 = Positive connector to the O2cell (positive)
VR3 P port connector Pin1 connected to blue lead of Molex = negative connector of O2 cell, Pin 2 connected to white lead of Molex = positive connector of O2 cell.

I've got this long time ago. Hope that can help you

>>>OK, here goes.

go to http://www.fischerconnectors.com/pr...act/103a057.gif

and look at the 7 pin picture.

From top going clockwise pin one is the top one, pin two is next to it on the right and so on. Pin seven is the centre.
I reference the picture as if I am looking down the barrel of the plug (NOT the cable side).

Looking at the R22D sensor go to
http://www.teledyne-ai.com/pdf/schem_b72149.pdf

Pin 2 goes to positive on the cell.
Pin 7 goes to negative on the cell

Just in case, the positive is the right hand pin on the cell if the polarity strip is at the top.

I just checked it out with my meter. Does someone want to check that?
I can see another green blob coming on.

Sorry not Belkin, BELDEN
The cable is Belden 1192A
http://bwccat.belden.com/ecat/jsp/I...ed&P6=undefined
Available from RS components (www.rswww.com) part number 209-1474 in 30m reels for £54

I would probably go to Maplin and get the Van Damme cable (www.maplin.co.uk) part number VU19V or VU17T as you can buy it by the meter. Read the specs on it.
You will need a good gland mind. RS do some lovely IP68 stainless glands good for 90m depth<<<
