How much to get one integrated with a meg? Break it to me gently...

do you want it just to display 3 cell reading or to controll solenoid ?

As far as I know there isn't a version that'll control the solenoid on the meg.

i bet the nice guys at [email protected] can get one to work. they are used on the deep pursuit inspo heads along with JJ's and Revo's. cant see why not on a meg

Dunno, only ever read that they're monitors.

The JJ uses a Shearwater as a controller.

on the video where the CEO of meg starts cutting things off his unit, doesnt he cut a shearwater computer ? so it must be able to be done.

What must be able to be done? I've found nothing to say that an integrated shearwater can be used as a controller on the meg; only stuff I've found refers to secondary handset replacement, to monitor ppo2 and track deco.

oh maybe thats what he was using it for. have a word with john at [email protected] and see what they can do

Just looking for a rough cost, if anyone on here's had it done by a main dealer.

does the allow for it to be drilled and tapped ?

Not necessary if cabled in. Uses existing design.

Around 1600 -1800, both hand sets and black box get replaced.
Dennis or Andy will give you the correct cost.

Technically a Shearwater could act as a Meg controller but Shearwater will not do it due to a contractual agreement and by extension it is my understanding that [email protected] won't do anything that is prohibited under the same agreement.

I had a Shearwater on my Meg acting as a PPo2 display and doing online deco. From memory the cost was under $2k:

1 x Shearwater fully unlocked
1 x Shearwater Fischer cable
1 x sealing gland

Just used the secondary port on the Meg head and piggy backed onto the cells. Worked perfectly.

Shearwater used to do some heads where they controlled the solenoid... I ve still got mine, single pursuit handset and HUD..

If you want just monitoring the cheapest way is the 4th cell in the lung and Fischer connector to a pursuit

It's a little under 2k to upgrade a 2.06 head to the current 2.7 with a Shearwater. The primary handset is left alone and continues to control the solenoid. The electronics are replaced in the head so the hud runs from the primary and the Shearwater replaces the secondary.
I had a narked at 90 adaptor to connect a Shearwater through a Fischer cable before I upgraded the head - it worked very well but meant I had an extra handset to get in the way.
Dennis did my upgrade.

I have the 2.7 version head.

It'll still cost a couple of grand :-) oooh scooter or shearwater upgrade? :-D now that's the real question

When I said to Dennis about doing this he said dont bother, just stick your computer on 1.2 ppo2...He said the deco wouldnt be to far out if I remember correctly

it's not necessary, but it is a really nice upgrade to use...
It really depends on what you want to get from the upgrade. I struggled to read the meg handsets - especially when deep & dark - I don't have that problem with the shearwater display. Of course, a nice oled upgrade to the handsets would have done the same thing but I haven't heard that it works reliably in cold water yet.
Most of all I just like having all the info in one place. I also carry a standalone Shearwater set on a slightly different gf that gives an identical profile to the integrated one - within a minute on a 2.5 hour dive.
I would also run out of arm space for two shearwaters and the primary handset - that's now clipped off to the lung as I only use it to change the set point.

Shearwater or scooter? I'd go for the shearwater as you'll get to use that on every dive ;)

I want to do it because I struggle to see the handsets that come with the meg, checking ppo2 on them isn't effortless in the way it would be with a wired in OLED.
