Sorry to ask a stupid question but I have tried the 40 lbs Evolve with twin 12 ltr fabers and found it OK BUT now I'm wondering about the 40 lbs Explorer bladder, what would the GUE Instructors advise ? I'm torn between the two ? Having said the above, I haven't tried a 40 lbs Explorer yet, maybe I should ?

Sorry to ask an over bashed Question !

With fabers I would recommend the 40lb Explorer. The Evolve is slightly too long.

Thanks for the reply , Too long meaning What exactly? the tanks sit on the bottom of the bladder ?

I've used an Explorer 40 with Faber 12s for 4 seasons with no problems.

I just sold it though as I bought a Stealth Evolve at a price I couldn't resist. However, I've yet to dive with it and I'm not convinced I'll notice that much difference.

The bottom of the wing falls below the bottom of the tanks. It's divable of course but much more likely to get ripped on the boat/ out of the water (mine did).

Thanks for the reply , Too long meaning What exactly? the tanks sit on the bottom of the bladder ?This is a possibility. The Evolve is much better with the narrower & longer Eurocylinders and it's my desire to get some of those (if anyone ever sells me some) that made me switch. That and my lack of will when it comes to new dive kit :D

I'd have thought with your entrepreneurial skills you would have snapped it up and resold the parts for more than the whole *and* got a free day's training from Clare :D

It's certainly close and will depend on the position of the bands, but mine is about level with the bottom and I've survived ok so far - but I am very, very conscious of this problem and therefore how I sit down/stand up in it.

The ECS/Euro cylinders are slightly longer as mentioned, so I can be more cavalier when using those :D

Thought of using some Custom Divers bands? ;)

what a great idea.. then you could weld some Drings on them and hang various diving paraphernalia off them...

Just like your inverted torch and flag on an easy to assemble pole?

Thanks to all who replied, your advice has been great.

Now all I have to do is find a secondhand 40 lb Explorer, they are a little out of my reach at $700 new off the shelf which is a little over 300 pounds.

Thanks again

Pete... you have boots on your cylinders like i do, the evolve doesn't get pinched under the cylinders then
YMMV

Quite right too, we aren't fashion victims over here. (nor EU/M26 victims come to that).

To be a bit different, I use an explorer with Euros .... I like the idea of a horseshoe wing more. I should try an Evolve perhaps ....... https://www.yorkshire-divers.com/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif

On the back of this thread, could anyone advise whether either wing would be more suitable than the other for twin Ali 80s?
