I've got some bungee and thought about making a necklace for my back up reg (I currently use a long yellow tubing version) is there a link with photos on how to make some anywhere?

Also the same thing with the knots to clips with cord - any photos guides?

Thanks.:)

I just have a length of bungee with a knot at each end secured to the mouth piece with a cable tie.

Have a look at Rich Walkers site Wreck and Cave, I always use his site for tying bolt snaps.

Clare has some nice phots on how to put a bungee loop on the touch head.

Have I covered everyone :)

All I did was make a loop of bungee where the ends overlap by 50mm, then use 2 cable ties to make the hole for the reg mouthpiece - soes taht make sense?

Figure eight knot if you really want to on each end, but you don't need it.

With the cable tie over the top it's not going anywhere.

Digs.

Same here, Its probably the only part of my kit that doesn't comply!

For the necklace I use a double fisherman's
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_fisherman's_knot
Just put the mouthpiece in between the two knots.

Bungee to clips I use a (insert name of which I can't for the life of me remember - will look it up and post a picture).

Bungee is a bugger to tie knots in as it tends to work itself free. Any knots you make need to worked tight to make sure they don't slip.

This MAY or MAY NOT help...............

I almost do the same as Juz but I don;t overlap. I also don't tie a knot on the otherside of the bungee. Someone may want my backup (for whatever reason) and I don't want it to reach the end of the bungee and come back and smash me in the face.

The way I have it means the bungy can pull free from under the cable tie if pulled really hard but also means that it won't just drop off when it is around my neck.

Mine is under the cable tie that holds the mouthpeice on. Then each end has an ordniary knot in it to stop it pulling out.Anyone can have the reg on the longhose, but i'd prefer it if they left me something tobreather from.

The stuff I've used also isn't particularly stretchy.

I do a similar one to Juz but I knot the bungie instead of using cable ties. It'll pull free if you give it a tug

I also don't use the cable-tie that holds the mouth piece on, I don't want the mouth piece to go.

So what do you substitute the cable tie with then ? Most mouth pieces come with cable ties, I have never had one "go" yet.

I use another cable-tie to hold the bungy in addition to the one holding the mouth piece. If the bungy one is not tight enough, the mouthpiece may come off, hence 2 cable-ties.

Someregs may have more space for 2 ties - i don't think mine do.

Arh the belt and braces approach, I guess it's the if you need one take two :D

When I started to use the necklace I bought a Halcyon bungee necklace for 6, saw what it was and what knots are used and now make my own.

i have a fair quantity of 3mm bungee (not the 5mm Halcyon use, but thinner is slightly more unobtrusive) and am happy to send them to anyone who makes a 2.00 donation to the RNLI here: Justgiving - Yorkshire Divers RNLI Page (http://www.justgiving.com/yorkshire-divers2008-2009) and sends me an SAE.

PM if interested.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I had seen the cord under the zip tie on another site - looks like it may be the way forward then from the general opinion.
