I've been a member of the board for the last week, but thought I'd better say ello to you all before I got found out . I'm currently a padi AOW, and TDI SCR Dolphin, been diving for the last 12 months, I did used to dive reguallary in my teens where my mates dad was an instructor. I now live in sunny Cape Town where the water is bloody freezing, 7-12 degrees in summer one the Alantic side . I'm currently working in Zurich, Switerland, where it asnt stopped snowing since Friday . I'm orginally from Chorley, lancs.

My GF is heading to Capetown mid April to visit family and she is going to try to gets oem dives in, just wait till I tell her teh water is as cold as it is here!

Can you recommend any Capetown dive companys?

I might be back in Cape Town that time too, but will know more tomorrow.

You could try Bradon at Bubble Blowers www.bubbleblowers.co.za, he's currently in Sodwana Bay on a two week holiday (lucky B***ard), his boat gets quite full. Failing that you could give Butch a shout at Orca www.orca.co.za, then there is Gavin at www.piscesdivers.co.za or Gertyan (sorry cant spell his name but thats how it pronounced) from www.scubashack.co.za. Diveaction.co.za is more tech diving. Orca is the only dive center that is SCR friendly and the only place where you can rent a Dolphin Ray. I might be back in Cape Town that time too.

I recommend that she brings a dry suite The seasons are changing in April, so she may be lucky and get to dive the Indian ocean side where it is a little bit warmer, the temp is around 12-16 degrees, but I have had 8 degrees at 30 meters on the Smits wrecks . There are usually 3 boat dives a day, the 1st one is deep and is AOW only, the second is AOW with a shallower section for OW, and the 3rd is usually around 18m or less. All boats mentioned have o2 on board and are upto speck. I also recommend that your girl friend gets DAN insurance, as medical and recompression treatment is expensive.
